Wtf, this is disappointing. I was very excited about Groh though, so maybe if we hire some underwhelming dude he will produce!
 
Well, I guess this answers how PJ will hire a good DC and allow him to bring in his own people.

Sounds like cleaning house is going to be the ticket here.

Or he was told he wasn't getting the job, and decided to get a fresh start. Once you get passed over, it doesn't make sense to stay at the same school. He'll learn under another DC and improve his resume.

The players in '01 (and some of the fan base) wanted Mac McWhorter to stay on as HC.

He was a good coach, but I am not sure he was HC material. He never got an offer for a HC anywhere else, which is surprising.

It's not like Chan was huge upgrade.

I think it's probably shocking to Johnson as well. He was just quoted as saying he wanted Kelly to stay on even if he didn't get the job.
 
Can someone explain to me how is this not a bad sign? The players seemed to love him.

Still a bummer though. Kind of weird to hear that someone we thought might leave (Sneezy) is staying and someone we thought might stay (Kelly) is leaving in the same day.
