UNC boards NOT confident against us.....

I feel just the opposite - I think we run over them this year. They are one-dimensional without Gio back there, and I just don't think they're going to be able to score that much. Our defense did some decent things the past two games, and I see us making more plays this year than last.

Heaven help us if a team is ever smart enough to line up with two tight ends. It's not like we can cover one.

So many times over the past few years, I thought we'd roll over a team. UNC's been prepping. I expect a close game.

I know comparing scores and stats in football mean nothing, but just for kicks:

UNC beat MTSU 40-20 but only outgained them 500+ to 400+ yards.
Duke beat Memphis 28-14 but doubled them up in yardage something like 470-240.
MTSU beat Memphis 17-15 but Memphis outgained them by 100 or so yards.
We beat Duke 38-14 and doubled them up in yardage about like they did Memphis.
Extrapolating: we should beat UNC by around 16 pts. Ofcourse I know, the game will be played on the field.

Where do the Jews enter the equation?

BS. No one has called for intentionally taking players out of the game. I've wanted Murray to get injured, but not on purpose by one of our guys, and not anything that would affect his football career or life outside football.

Isn't this the same board where someone has their signature a picture of Murray getting laid out in the SECCG last year?

It was my avatar for a couple months. Also, Murray didn't get injured on that play, he just got embarrassed. I wish embarrassment on opposing and/or UGAy players at all times.

My favorite posts are the: "I'd rather keep losing than run an option offense; it kills recruiting, etc." They had 11 NFL players in traditional offense/defense schemes in 2008 and went 8-5. How's that working out?

Oh please, please please.

But this came as a surprise...

Paul Johnson hates us because he lobbied for the UNC job over and over and over... THIS is where he wanted to coach, he is from NC and wanted to coach here. We continually thumbed our noses at him and now he lives to make us pay for that.

Can anyone confirm this?

Funny how this narrative changes every year. At first CPJ was just a candidate who UNC looked over. A good number of UNC fans were frustrated that they chose Butch over Johnson.

They tell the story now, and suddenly CPJ is "begging" for the job. He's turned down and now he HATES the Tarheels for spurning him.

Can't wait to see how the story evolves over the next few years.

but yeah please put your corners on an island against Vad. pretty please

NC State fans do the same thing.

If living in NC was that big of a deal to him, he'd have taken the Duke job when it was offered to him.

Being pseudo 'from' NC, I can say that the one thing I would do if I was in the state and had millions of dollars is leave.

We still need guys who can get separation or at least fight for the ball in the air... ahem..... Waller... cough... cough....

That's the thing, with this offense you really don't. If you leave your corners on an island and bring the safeties closer to the line (as the UNC fan is suggesting), then we will have A-backs running down the field wide open. Forget the WRs.

I think there is a big difference between taking the Duke job and taking the UNC or NC State jobs.

Oddly enough, if he'd have taken the Duke job I think we'd have hired Cutcliffe, but that is just speculation. Duke did offer more money than we could have (as did SMU, I believe). At Duke you'd have to build from the ground up with very limited alumni support. And that makes Tech a far more attractive job.

And there's no shame in the fact that Johnson might have wanted to coach in North Carolina. But doing so at Duke is different than doing so at NC State and UNC, where if he had run things the right way he'd have barriers and obstacles not entirely dissimilar from those at GT (UNCheats simply dispensed with the academic barriers by cheating).

He's at Tech because we offered him a job before UNC(heats) or NC State did. I think Johnson would have jumped from Navy to any decent ACC program with the potential to consistently win big (anyone but Maryland, Duke, or Wake Forest). We were the first in line and I'm glad that we were.

NC is pretty nice. I'd move back one day if the right opportunity was there.

Where'd you live in the state?

I heard NC liquor stores are pretty bad though. Aren't they run by the state?
