One thing CPJ was definitely right about....

And I'll admit, I thought he was an idiot for this, but:

Tevin Washington >> Vad Lee

For his scheme, at least.

i feel like everyone on the board is going through various phases of an unexpected break-up

i miss tevin

very true....also, don't forget,

TW > Tom Brady
TW > Peyton Manning
TW > Dan Marino
TW > Joe Montana

.....in CPJ's scheme.

Any of those guys couldve run the option in college. Even Marino is a decent athlete.

The dude was a statue. WTF are you talking about? He had good pocket presence, but that doesn't mean he could run the option.

I've been saying this all year. People started blindly calling for JT once Vad didn't do so hot. What they don't realize is that it's the SAME öööö THING THAT HAPPENED LAST YEAR.

Last year CPJ was right and Tevin kept the starting position, even though the fan base thought differently.

This year, CPJ was right and Vad kept the starting position, even though the fan base thought differently.

Next year, we're calling for JT to be the savior, and claiming that he should've started this year. If CPJ saw that JT was better to run the 3O than Vad was, he'd have started him.

People are ignorant sometimes.

I believe JT has better potential at the base O than Vad did. My only gripe with JT is he is very error prone.

Vad Lee isn't a quarterback. He's an athlete that can throw a ball hard. I've been holding out hope that he would eventually learn to read the option and become the next Tracy Ham, but he just doesn't have it. Unless he goes to a non-AQ or FCS, he'll never be a starting QB again.

He was a redshirt freshman seeing his first action at the college level. The error prone aspect will improve.

With that being said, he doesn't have the passing ability that Vad has. Which means we can look forward to three more seasons of 5-10 passes per game as well as losing if we fall behind by more than 1 score.

I'd like to see JT take the reins. With him, there is more risk, but also more reward.

He is fast, but he is small. I worry about him getting hurt or fumbling after a big hit.

Then again, even though Vad had decent size, he had trouble holding on to the ball after getting hit and seemed to be afraid of contact.

Justin runs with more commitment. Vad was just too tentative.

Justin has a good enough arm to do well. I'd say better passer than Nesbitt and Washington.

You ever watch a Marino college game? Or do you just recall him as a 35 yo gunslinger?

I've called for the backup on two occasions at Tech. One was back when Suggs was running things, and it was more to do with us having nothing to lose than thinking the backup was better. The other was this year. Byerly or Thomas. Either would have done better, and I base this on having seen both run OUR offense and not a modified, custom-tailored version (which Vad couldn't even run well).

One of us will be proven right. I know you don't want it to be me, but you should. If the next guy is worse than Vad, we'll be lucky to win 5 games and then we're both pissed.

Just an FYI, "Marino was a bona fide Major League Baseball prospect, both as a pitcher and a shortstop, and was drafted in the fourth round in 1979 by the Kansas City Royals, who projected him as a third baseman or outfielder."

I wonder why Navy always seems to have a really good QB? Those guys run the option well, run for tough yardage and can throw reasonably well. But, after six years CPJ hasn't been able to find one for GT. Just wondering?

I would love it if you are right. I'm a TECH fan after all. Nothing would make me happier than JT/Byerly/Jordan taking over and proving me completely wrong.

I just don't see it happening. I see this path getting worse until CPJ is gone. Even then, it will probably take a year or two to make everything better.
