ugag gets GA Southern recruit to flip......

Mark Richt makes the call

"I don't care if he's a 2 star. We need bodies. All the good kids are leaving"

I just don't understand this kid's mindset. I guess he's seeing $$$ and S.E.C, but he's got to be an idiot to think he'd have as much playing time at UGAg as he would at Southern.

Did they really? How much is 'a bunch' ..?

There's been a few articles on the AJC about it. It is hard to say based on what the kids say, but somewhere between 3-7 have either de-committed altogether or have moved into some "undecided" state with the intent to announce for the first time on Wednesday. For the past two weeks Georgia has been out on the recruiting trail flipping some kids of their own to make up the difference.

yea this was a BIG MISTAKE for Richt IMO. Even if this kid is a diamond in the rough you are giving too much ammo to your detractors.

Perception drives reality in the coaching profession. He should have just ate the scholly. To poach a (new) sun belt school appears desperate and that is NOT a good thing.

we can just sit back and watch this play out. This increases the probability that Richt will not survive 2015.

even if this kid sees the field MR will NOT be around to see it

TOS says they called MLD but he did not answer the phone.

Tae is a good kid. I wish him well except once a year. Very surprising.

He was probably floored to get an offer from UGA and just took it.

He was on my daughters rec league Basketball team when she was about 6.

They just gave him an extension. Unless they miss a bowl game he's back for 2016.

A degree from UGA is light years better than GaSo. There is no way around that. Contacts from UGa are better than GaSo too. If the kid is looking beyond pro football, he is making a good choice. If he is looking at actually playing in the NFL, I don't think he is going to get the chance to improve at UGa that he would at GaSo. Playing time matters as does one on one I treat from the coaches. He isn't likely to get that at UGA.

This isn't a Brendan Douglas-type life changing poor decision.

If he believes that he's not going to the NFL, and it main goal is to get a degree, a uGA degree will probably serve him better than a GASO degree (assuming he chooses a real major at uGA).

Douglas, on the other hand, reduced his future non-NFL earning potential by over $1 MM while also killing any hope he had at the NFL. But it might have been for the best - anyone that stupid would have failed GT1000.

If he is NFL quality, the league will find him regardless. If he really is, he will find PT at UGA. I'm sure the training quality is much better at UGA as well.

The thing that get's me about the article.... Sounds like he's bragging on the fact that the young man, without even sitting down with the coaching staff or visiting the school to see if it's what fits him the next 4 years, commits on the spot.

That to me just doesn't make sense, but a lot about recruiting anymore just doesn't make sense.

Mark Richt makes the call

"Hello, Mikell? This is Mark again. Please pick up the phone. I've been leaving you messages all week but still haven't heard back. We'd really really like you to put on the red panties tomorrow. Give me a call back if you can. Please."

A degree from Georgia Southern is just as valuable as a degree from Georgia. You think Tae is worried about the value of his college degree? He probably just wants to be another cheerleader for UGA rather than playing some ball for the Eagles.

Go Jackets!

PS - glad to see some of you are seeing the truth about the star ranking system. It has a lot more to do with where you go, than how good you are.
