Let's look at what Mike Bobinski has accomplished in two years as AD at Georgia Tech (hired January 16, 2013), please feel free to add in things I'm missing:

HIRING:
A) Didn't give Paul Johnson a vote of confidence prior to 2014 season. But renegotiated contract slowly, as if it depended on Georgie game.
B) Renewed Brian Gregory's contract. Which will cost us an additional $1 million if we fire him this year.
C) Did the right thing and extended MaChelle Joseph's contract on October 21, 2014 to run through 2019-20 season.
D) Shelly Hoerner, softball. Has losing record.
E) Machelle Collier. In one season, went 13-18 and 6-12 in conference.

FIRING:
A) Sharon Perkins. Softball. Three time ACC COY in 7 years, led team to NCAA tournament every season but last. Won 3 ACC titles.
B) Tonya Johnson Volleyball. mediocre results?, 85-72 overall, 50-50 in ACC.

Attendance: Not sure that we've seen improvement in football attendance. That's not on the coaches. Our best attended game was Georgia Southern. Only 49,378 showed up to watch our ranked team play ranked Clemson. 52,221 showed up for Miami, 45,403 for Wofford, 44,281 for Duke, and 46,657 for UVA.

This year in basketball our best attendance home game was Georgie. 8,127. The next closet was 7,831 showing up for the Syracuse game. For the 12-13 season, we averaged 7,365. For 13-14 that number was 6,584. This past year we dropped to ~5,960. This is lower than when we did not have a basketball arena to play in . We averaged 6,095 that season.

Financials: FY 13 saw us with an operating loss of $1,850,000. FY 14 saw us with an operating loss of $348,000. In FY 14 we drew 11.8 million from our endowment. And the Tech fund generated 5 million (slightly less than student fees). GT threw in 2.034 M in subsidies of the athletic department on top of the student fees.

Expansion: No new sports were added. We maintain the minimum number of sports teams required by the ACC (15). There is no movement on this front.

Facilities: Plans to expand the basketball arena, etc. were in place and already had money raised when he got here. What has he done?

Fundraising: Does anyone know if we've gained or lost ground?

------------------------------------------
The bottom line is, after two years, have we seen anything to show that this AD is proactive? That he can raise money? That he can help our current coaches improve their programs? Every single facility improvement was underway before he got here.

Our football, men's basketball, women's basketball, baseball, golf mens and womens tennis, volleyball, and softball coaches were in place when he got here. He's replaced softball and volleyball coaches.

I'm open to persuasion. But after two years we knew what Radokovich wanted. What does Bobinski want? Is he even treading water?

I hear a gale blowing through the land of the jimmies.

One positive is the improved marketing strategies he has used. TogetherWeSwarm is highly visible throughout the city. GTAA seems to be more customer-service conscious. Also, they seem to be communicating better with the fan base through email. The white out game was well publicized this year. Ticket deals to increase attendance seemed to work. And wasn't it MBob that agreed to more recruiting assistants for CPJ?

i know what Bobinski wants. He wants Paul Hewitt to get abducted by aliens and Gregory to resign

I think Mike Bobinski has proven himself to be a very competent AD. I think thinking otherwise is not so wise.

The basketball team had shown modest improvement and there was no reason to foresee what the team did this season.

I did not like his handling of the Paul Johnson contract, but ultimately everything is how it should be with the football program.

Tonya Johnson resigned.

What I've seen:

Increased public engagement in stadium events.
#TogetherWeSwarm
Geting our radio broadcast away from a station that hates us
Hiring of Roddy Jones and Brandon Gaudin
Creative ticket pricing to respond to demand

I don't think he's done anything too terrible, and I think the softball coach firing must have some behind the scenes stuff that we're not totally aware of. It was a little sudden.

He's always at the baseball games. Has a helluva 12-6 curve on opening day pitches.

So there's that.

This reasonable. I'm just curious as to what the grander plan is. I don't think it revolves around firing one coach. But under DRad it was pretty clear that we were going to build, build, and build some more buildings because he liked ribbon cuttings and ignoring NCAA rules. And he made a great football hire, as well as some other good hires (and brian Gregory).

I've been wondering about the softball coach situation. It seemed . . . bizarre.

What is Bobinski about? What in the hell is he doing?

I think Bobinski is a bottom-line and behind the scenes guy. He's not gonna be a rah-rah out in the media AD, but he's going to make sure the business aspects of all the sports are where they need to be. I think this will hurt the non-revenue sports, but ultimately be better for the financial position of the Athletic Department.

I recognize that we operated at a loss in 2013 and 2014, but we also closed the gap by $1.5M in a non-UGA season ticket season.

we also reduced the cost of clean-up in and around the McCamish Pavilion after games greatly this past season

Winning the Orange Bowl has to improve the athletic department's financial situation, right?

If bob is behind #togetherweswarm then that's a pretty big pro.

THE GOLD STANDARD PLEDGE:
I pledge to honor and uphold The Gold Standard. I will strive to create a positive environment for my team and fellow fans. I will cheer for Georgia Tech, rather than against the opponent. I will conduct myself in a positive manner, showing respect, responsibility and leadership to Georgia Tech. It's up with the White & Gold...Georgia Tech is out for a victory!

Get some!

Sharon Perkins needed to be fired long before MBob was here. DRad wouldn't do it because it was his first hire. The actual team hated her. She slept around with the umpires and treated the players like öööö. Players have some "good" stories of her. There was a protest in DRad's office one day.

Fundraising: Does anyone know if we've gained or lost ground?

More than likely losing ground. Basically, he's a dick and doesn't want to talk to anyone or really take anyone's money to do anything. The big families are pissed as hell right now about the basketball issue.
