Bebe Thomas spills the beans

Actually, I strongly suspect it was caused by Reggie's limitations as a QB, bless his heart.

Obviously people exaggerate. We ran more than 3 routes, but I think the point is we didn't run many due to limitations over the middle; and a o-coord who despite playing QB was largely clueless in the passing game.

3 routes: run to the left if Calvin is going to the right; run to the right if Calvin is going to the left; stay out of the way if he is going over the middle.

I bet, after seeing Bond's playbook - An Illustrated History of Offensive Football Plays, Formations and Philosophies (vol 1.) and vol. 2 An Analysis Of Current Defensive Schemes and Strategies to Capitalize On Their Weaknesses that BeBe won't know how good he had it under Nix.:wow:

:D

That was Reggie's fault. Just ask beej67.

I wouldn't be surprised, with his accuracy issues. The preponderance of our routes, as best as I can recall last year, were fly routes, post routes, and comeback routes, with the occasional post-fly. Note how all of those are routes where the receiver has a chance to adjust to a poorly thrown ball, and are less likely to end up in the hands of the badguys if the read is wrong. I only recall a few drags in the flat, primarily during goal line situations, and some occasional screens. I don't recall any quick slants, button hooks, or crossing routes, which are the kinds of things that get picked when you read them wrong. (e.g. UGA 2 years ago)

Our big weakness on O last year, other than wretched accuracy and poor decision making from the QB, was an inability to challenge the LBs in coverage. Which you can't really do without accuracy and good decision making.
