Sewak

CPJ is mainly about his O system and running it to prove others wrong as much as to try and win. Sewak helps fulfill that end and is coaching the way CPJ wants him to.

He, I bet, will not be fired. He should be

The TO at gsu had an advantage if you got one playmaker at QB - he did.

At Navy a lot of the same applies combined with the fact that they play a fairly easy schedule. When they do play the big games they have generally played very weak teams before so as to have time to prepare.

Does not work that way at GT, despite playing in the ACC. I guess time will tell if coaches at this level have "caught up" to the TO. Regardless, since day one, CPJ has given D the back burner until perhaps too late. And as we know, at this point CPJ is 2-6 vt, 2-5 um, 2-5 ugag, losing bowl record. Lost to ku, mtsu, way to close to gsu and g-w. And now 0-4 vs n.c. nobodies the last 2 years.

Sewak ain't going anywhere, despite this year losing 21-0 lead and a 14-0 lead in games.

BUT We'll always have FSU tho!

And if he wants to survive CPJ has to beat ugag more.

This is the second time that CPJ has either named 2 OL coaches or has another one (ST) helping him. CPJ must know that Sewak can't do the job. It is unheard of for a team to have two offensive line coaches. Firing Sewak buys CPJ time, if the OL sucks again next year and Sewak is still employed, CPJ will be the target.

Our blocking schemes are the hard part about our offense. They're really freaking complicated, and the assignments change based on defensive alignment, and the "in game adjustments" we make are not to call different plays most of the time, but to block the same plays differently. Our entire system is about blocking. We should have never stopped having 2 OL coaches.

Anyone long for Super Joe Gilbert? A rocket scientist walk on center, some converted TEs and undersized LBs with a string of Chan's pro style Olinemen.

Throw Todd Spencer in there and we're playing Clemson again and maybe for the CFP.

No friend of Daves. Dave was available and good, but PJ needed a sacrificial animal. He shoulda kept Jon on staff. Then we win a couple of MNCs.

You do know he fired Womack the year we won the acccg, right?

Womack was fired because CPJ thought we would be better with someone else. Then we hired Groh.

What a Dick PJ was too. Brought Groh in to watch practice before the Bowl game & said he wasn't interviewing Groh for a job. Real class As shole

I doubt if CPJ could recruit a really checked out offensive line coach to replace Sewak. A real offensive line coach would want to be able to teach his guys proper zone blocking and pass blocking techniques. And, he would also want to teach his guys how to communicate at the LOS to adjust blocking based upon what the defense is doing.

Against Virginia we had the weight advantage over the Virginia defensive line. It seemed to me that for once we could line up and run power football to see if a smaller DL could stop us. But, it did not happen.

We waited for Virginia Tech who probably had two DL men who will play on Sunday next year. Yep, that is the DL to run directly at.

It really did not look to me that our offensive line coach had much influence on the game plan.

He and Johnson are best buds, no way he gets fired. The best hope would be some other job opening. OC at Kennesaw State?

What have the Owls ever done to you?

It does raise a point tho. With so much turnover this year he might could gracefully find another position.

Got my fingers crossed for an amicable resolution.

That's really the crux of the issue that I'm wrestling with here.

Look, no one needs to understand all the nuances and intricacies of our offense to see the OL is just down right pathetic. So, I'm balancing THAT with the fact that CPJ obviously doesn't mind canning shitty coaches, and the whole nepotism/friend thing seems silly to me, too.

I'm just curious what Sewak's responsibilities are or what he brings to the table.

He screwed up recruiting Marshall's starting center.

Here is the flip side, if I am Sewak and I've been coaching for 40 years, I know that this line looks like crap. I know that the line has been a weakness most years. At what point does a coach stop dicking over his buddy. Sewak either has plenty of cash to retire on, or he has a severe gambling problem.

Ride off into the sunset Mike. It's over there, just past the cliff.
