CPJ throws the defense under the bus

the offense wasn't scoring 14 pts yesterday. We had to hold the mutts to 6 or less to have a chance. We didn't so it's the fault of the D.

Exactly. In no way, shape or form can Paul Johnson be blamed for this game or this season.

He said this to Randy Waters after the game, and yes he threw them under the bus. He never said our offense anything. He said we go down there and throw a pick, and Marcus marshall's offseason will be good by getting new competition. Also said in his presser that half the guys who lined up were freshman and won't be playing with those guys next year.

Love CPJ but he is unable to look inward. He changed things in 2013 for Vad and it didn't work, went back to basics in 2014 and in his mind validated that he and his offense are not the problem. I don't disagree but he's got to get either Better o-lineman or change the coach there.

WTF? If you don't think the head coach of the team is at least partially responsible for a 3-9 season, then you're retarded.

It's a good thing you've the ability to read Paul Johnson's thoughts, otherwise I'd probably think everything you just said was really stupid.

We hired a coach because of his offensive acumen. Yesterday was a complete failure. We had one late mercy touchdown. I'm tired of his snarky responses and blaming things on execution. He is in charge of execution.

1. Guys who write the stories usually don't write the headlines. For a paper the size of Macon - and the AJC for instance - that's done somewhere else.

2. PJ was not happy the defense couldn't keep the Dogs bottled up after the pooch kick to the 7. He knows giving up 13 points, even to a crap offense like Georgia has, should be enough for you to win the game.

You're still a ööööing moron. Your whining never even changes tune in order to at least be entertaining and if you can't at least be an entertaining whiny bitch, you're just a whiny bitch.

Let me save your dumb ööööing ass the trouble: Paul Johnson is a ööööing genius, he shoulders zero responsibility for this season, we should triple his salary and give him a lifetime contract, I'm ecstatic that we won three games, the win over FSU saved the season and I don't care about the bowl streak or beating Georgia.

There, I think I covered all the things your barely-functioning brain actually believes about people who don't bitch and moan and scream for blood because of a bad year while trying desperately to come up with reasons why a phenomenal 2014 campaign doesn't count. Use the time I just saved you to drown yourself in your bath tub, you simple little twat.

Think you missed the part where he said we had to be better on both sides of the ball. Do you believe PJ thought up the the subject of this article or do you believe PJ answered a series of questions and the author wrote what he wanted?

This! I wouldn't trust the media unless I heard it from the horses mouth.
Especially the Macon (bulldog) telegraph.

Well, GT is #67 in defense in the FEI rankings. Who to "blame" is subjective, since either the offense could play better or the defense could play worse. Even when we lost to UNC last year, the offense would have tied without a false start.

The defense does look better than it is because of fewer possessions.

I mean.. Not many coaches out there are going to say "well the guys played perfect from start to finish, we just couldn't win the game". He could say it is his fault he didn't have the guys ready to play but he is what he is. Hire Dabo if you want sugar-coated apologies. The defense played well enough to win the game but did make some key mistakes. The offense was horrid. We had a bad year... Johnson has said the defense has played well in spurts just hasn't been consistent. I don't see where anyone could argue this. Time to move on and time for CPJ to fix the O before next year. If he doesn't we need a new coach. Georgia is a team that has been mostly crap on O and competent on D all year. We still could have been in a spot to win the game if Jeune doesn't fumble and don't give up big plays to ugag at certain points.

Weak headline. He most definitely did not throw the defense under the bus. Also, the defense was fairly good yesterday but have not been good this season or any other under Roof, or PJ's entire tenure, really.

Bolded because I do think team's take on the identity of their HC's focus and you can see some of the same thing in UNC this year, Oregon last year, etc.

Secondly, scary to think, but this could be argued to be the best defense that PJ has had since the 2008 team that was loaded with NFL players. If we had our signature scoring and PJ Death Marches this year, I think the jump in statistical categories would have been significant for the defense.

We really only took three straight up defensive ass whuppings all year and the D played pretty well until they got tired in the ND game.

This was an unfortunate comment by CPJ - it hints at a jealousy with Roof that our expectations on defense are far below the expectations for the offense. In other words, he doesn't want to hear that the defense did it's part and the offense is to blame. Why go there? You could say correctly that as well as the defense played, they really needed to step up at winning time and force the Dawgs to punt. But, a 7 on the board for the offense speaks for itself.

CPJ is the head coach of the whole team. It was a bad idea to express resentment that "his" offense is held to higher expectations than the defense. Paul, you are not an offensive coordinator, you're the head coach.

????????????????????

What? Seriously?

No. I was mocking the people who flock to these threads to point out that everything is ultimately the HC's responsibility and accuse others of being happy with a three win season.

You can throw in the people who actually believe Paul Johnson threw the defense under the bus to that list as well.
