Fuente to VT

Yeah because 1st round draft picks at QB just fall out of the sky and are randomly distributed around college football. You don't have to coach them up or call plays or anything. They just win and take you along for the ride. Great point.

The guy is like 6'6, can run, and has a cannon arm. Props to Fuente for recruiting him or whatever, but let's not act like he'd be doing what he's doing with the typical Memphis QB.

Maybe he'll be awesome. Who knows. I just don't think he's done anything to warrant being hired at a place like VT.

Foster fining his players was the nail in his long-awaited coffin. He is not head coach material.

That whole thing makes you wonder if he even had any ambitions of becoming an HC anywhere. Unless your AD is the type of guy that sits around with his buddies drinking Coors, talking about how college football players used to be men and now they're all a bunch of boys who don't care about winning, they just care about playing in the NFL and showboating I tell you what - then he's not giving Foster a thought.

Meh. Unless he brings that NFL prototype QB with him from Memphis, he's nothing to be scared of. He's only coached for 4 years, and his only two winning seasons came with a likely 1st round draft pick at QB. He may be awesome, but I've got no reason to think that right now. In fact, unless he retains Foster, I see this as a definite plus for GT.
Yeah, beware of overnite wonders, I think we know, we hired one BL

VT wins 10 games next year if they get Fuente. Bottle of whiskey bet. First taker.

He could go to South Carolina and know how to recruit in the Carolina, Georgia and Florida. If goes to VT or somewhere else, he'll be smart to take Gene Chizih.

M'lady could very well end up leaving Carolina for greener pastures with this many openings and I have to wonder if they'd offer the job to Chizik in that case. However he did it, the man did win an MNC.

I think that's kinda the point. He didn't recruit and coach up the typical Memphis QB. he found a kid that was 6'6', can run and has a cannon for an arm. And got him to come to Memphis, which had to be one of the 10 worst programs in the country before Fuentes. this is a kid that could have been signed by any other program in the country. But wasn't.

Either he can sell like crazy. Or can find a "diamond in the rough" prospect like we love to talk about and developed him into an NFL prospect. Either case is fine by me for a coach. Either go get the blue chippers. Or make them into blue chippers.

I believe this was kind of the draw for a guy like Chris Petersen, though he hasn't completed his second season at Washington so I suppose the jury is still out there.

Official now. Keeping Bud and little beamer. For us, this sounds great to me. A recipe for disaster. 3 guys who all think they should be the boss. Hope it blows up in their face and they become irrelevant again.

Only means Bud Foster is going somewhere big time.

Heard on radio last night that part of the deal is Foster staying on as DC.

I am often surprised how often "one year wonders" are hired for better jobs. Like we did with b.. L..... But this guy must have a better overall track record of building the team up.

I hope blows up, but that's really scary if it works...

I feel like Foster has the right amount of lil bitch in him to make it work. No clue about the younger Beamer...

Next year, we will be facing VT, Miami, UVA, and uga with first year coaches. Pitt, Vandy, and BC will have 2nd year coaches. Hope for lots of dissension among their players and confusion on the sidelines.

Wishful thinking at best. Foster, like him or not, is a monster DC and is keeping his staff to boot. Little Beamer was also never a serious candidate for the HC spot from all I read. He's their recruiting coordinator, that's probably why he is being retained, at least for now.

Fuente also runs a high-powered spread, a far cry from VT's usual plodding disaster of an offense. VT also has a lot of skill position talent to work with that will return.

It could not work out for them but it's a whole lot of spin to pretend keeping Foster and hiring one of the best names out there isn't a good step for VT.

Just saying "high powered" doesn't mean they will be effective. Our garbage offense could score 50 against tulsa, kansas, and smu. VT was high powered when they had the vicks. Nepotism rearly works out. Too many chiefs and not enough indians isn't some made up bs.

Foster's defense is not what it once was. Saw The Key Play on Twitter saying how huge it was that they kept the best DC in the game, but he is far from that today.
