I was impressed with his few carries and TD on Saturday, albeit against a tired and dejected ND defense. Personally, I'd like to see a little more Dwyer and a little less Evans in the future to help Choice shoulder the load.

What say you?

I was very impressed with Dwyer. He is a big back that runs very hard and should be a load to deal with near the goal line. I think we have a stable of backs that would give any defense fits.

I'm hoping we can put Samford away early and get a better look at him on Saturday. I didn't get to watch any of the scrimmages or practices so I'm just now seeing him for the first time.

Evans doesn't seem to run hard like all great backs. I noticed a significant dropoff when he ran the ball. Dwyer seems to have that hard runner in him.

He looked like a great RB to me - good vision, nice glide to the outside. Has broad shoulders and narrow hips like an Eric Dickerson, Eddie Lee Ivery type of RB. Don't know how fast he is in the open field.

Evans seemed to stutter step too much. Coaches should correct that easily and get him to pick his hole and explode through.

Good grief guys...we are such fast forgetters...always moving on to the next recruit!

As a true freshman, Jamaal Evans actually led the team in ypc last year at 5.2...albeit 41 carries...even had a couple of td's.

Jamaal Evans is actually a very highly though of TB by the coaches...he is a pure TB that can spot a hole and dart through it. Plus...he has tremendous balance.

The "problem" is we have 5 great backs..one of which is just hurt all of the time (Grant).

Dwyer is good as well...and wait until you see Roddy Jones. Roddy can score any time he touches the ball. If Dwyer did not sign with us as such a highly regarded player...Roddy would not be redshirting this year. Roddy will be a GT a long time...probably will be working on his masters before he runs out of eligibility.

Really? I guess I do have a short memory, I don't remember him getting hardly any playing time.

well based on the ND game, dwyer looked better than evans. maybe he looked better last year and saturday was an anomaly, i didn't get to see him run the ball then so i can't say.

I think if Dwyer gets 5 carries a game it'd be fine with me. Remember Evans will get his also, so will Rashaun Grant when he comes back. I do think its important for Dwyer, the heir apparent at RB, to get plenty of reps.

Shouldn't be a problem this week, he may get near the same number of carries as Tashard this week if everything goes according to plan and we put Samford away early.

I was not that impressed with Evans play either, particularly on pass blocking. I'm not trying to call anyone out to make a change, but Dwyer seems to have extremely powerful thighs that just bounce off people.

just as info....pass blocking was one of the things that impressed our coaches most about Evans last year when he played as a true freshman. He has great vision.

Dwyer just looked classy and self-assured.

I'd love to see Roddy Jones as well but maybe we can't have the cake and eat it as well.

I feel good about our progress though and am interested in seeing what TECH does with this game.

Nice job against the irish, btw, Coach Gailey and staff.

Evans has a tendency to be tentative. He's a tough runner after he makes up his mind, though.

i'm still leaning with evans over dwyer right now. i remember a 20-25 yard evans had in the ugag game last year. he broke a tackle up the middle and went around to the right for a great run. it's on one of those highlight videos.

i'm still a little sketchy on dwyer cuz he had a couple of fumbles at the spring scrimmage but.....we'll see.

I am not sure it is making up his mind...he is just a vision runner...at least that is how my amateur mind sees it. I will not say what other great NFL running back was like that...could get away with waiting for his blockers because he was football smart and quick.

I am never going to pick one of our RB's over the other...other than Choice because he is a senior that has earned the right to hog the ball.

We can win with any of them.

I liked the way Dwyer looked against ND, breaking tackles on his way to the endzone, but I've been generally impressed with Evans too, and wouldn't write him off. Those 5-8, low to the ground guys can lose yards on a couple of carries, and then turn it around and gain 20. Evans was also thrown into there on a few downs, specifically when Choice was cramping or after a big run. Dwyer got a full series late in the game when the result was in hand. Keep that in mind.
