Who else watched this thing last night? Louisville's offense is spectacularly good, but - last night at least - their defense is just as spectacularly bad.

MTSU was shut out for 3 quarters and managed just over 200 yards offense against Florida Atlantic in week one, and they looked like c. 2004 U$C last night against the Cards.

As EDSBS put it: "West Virginia may pull a Phidippides and end Steve Slaton’s Heisman campaign early when he dies from exhaustion during their matchup later this year."

No kidding. :laugher:

I did watch part of the game, and I was really surprised at how poor their defense looked. Luckily for them they don't play much of anybody, but I certainly don't think they'll be so highly ranked toward the end of the season.

How can you be a so called national contender and allow Middle Tennessee (a Sun Belt Team, and honestly, not a great one at that) to score 42 points and get 555 yards of total offense. So you scored 58? What happens when you play a team with a decent defense? Oh, wait, they're in the Big East. Never mind.

There doesn't seem to be a real test on L'ville's schedule until perhaps @ Cincinnati on 10/13. Prior to that they are on the road against Kentucky and N.C. State --but really none of these should be considered a true challenge for a team ranked #8. Louisville should be 9-0 going into their game @ West Virginia --but you never know --right Michigan?

I wouldn't be surprised to see Kentucky take it to Louisville. They sure looked good against UGA last year. Had MTSU's QB not thrown that pick on the 1, they may have come back and won. There was still 8 minutes left and they were only down by 16.

Louisville 2007 is like GT 1999. We were considered a national title contender as well, with an offense just as good, until we lost to Wake Forest and UVA because every game ended with the guy who scored last winning.
