When does the Russell Athletic contract expire?

New Balance uniforms ftw.

Cause we're a "running" team.

What's stupid to me is there is nothing stopping Russel from coming out with a new line geared toward AA youth. A new line with a new name.

What would be awesome would be to get Ralph Lauren to do it. What South the UGA fratboys wear then?

There should be a Stingtalk offseason advent calendar where we open the little door each week and it tells us which dead horse topic we should beat that week. It feels like this should be more of a "third week of April" type of thread.

LA Gear

I got a good looking GT Russell sweatshirt last season. Of course, I would have gladly paid double to have a Nike swoosh on it to avoid the embarrassment of wearing Russell. I also would have enjoyed my contribution to Oregon football.

Imo this is our baseline for negotiating and why I want UA

Wisconsin has been with Adidas since 2001, but the Badgers are set to join Under Armour on a 10-year deal beginning at the start of the 2016-17 school year. The deal is still pending Board of Regents approval.

According to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Wisconsin's new deal with Under Armour will bring in significantly more money to the athletics department.

Wisconsin will receive $3.33 million in product from Under Armour in the first year, and then $2.45 million the year after that, with that amount increasing each year until it is $3.05 million in product in year 10. Adidas is providing Wisconsin with $1.375 million in product this year.

Under the Badgers' Adidas contract, the school was receiving $800,000 in cash. The new Under Armour deal will pay the school $4 million annually.

Wisconsin is the latest school to make a jump to Under Armour, joining Northwestern and Maryland in the Big Ten as Under Armour schools.

Don't we have to be appealing to UA for them to throw wads of cash at us?

Let's see:
We would be UA largest market

A pre-existing relationship with being one of UA first team to do business with.

Association with one of UA face for Football: Demaryius Thomas

Two other national recognize programs (Baseball & Golf)

Let's see:
We would be UA largest market (no, just because we are in Atlanta doesn't mean everyone is going to buy GT gear from UA)

A pre-existing relationship with being one of UA first team to do business with. (still no reason to throw money at a school with a small fanbase. UA is in business to earn money)

Association with one of UA face for Football: Demaryius Thomas (I doubt NFL fans will buy GT gear because of it)

Two other national recognize programs (:bowrofl:)(fire Danny Hall UA shirts?) (perhaps a pic of golfers choking during the NCAA's on a UA shirt?

My $0.02

This is not widely known so a little background. Kevin Plank (UA founder) was a student at MD when Ross/Fridge were there. When UA was trying to break in to the college apparel market, Kevin called on Fridge and as a result, GT and UA did a little bit of business together. Not sure how much but GT was UA's first affiliation with a college program.

And one other note: When evaluating UA $$$, one much also net out the contribution and support of whoever it is at Russell that's laying down some cash outside of the contract to the GTAA. Don't know how much but bet its not insignificant in the analysis.

So its not just about the face value of a potential UA contract. There are other kickers. We might still be better off $-wise with UA - just saying there are other considerations.

UA largest market is Chicago - Notre dame

If you walked into the ua store last fall when we were up there it was a big Cubs jersey and a nd jersey

JJacket, I think you are really are underestimating the power of quality materials and strategic brand marketing.

Prime example, do you think Demetris Robertson would be wearing or even buy a Tech hoodie if it was Russell?

So you don't think Under Armour is more now because of Steph Curry? From a pop culture, you think adidas would see massive sale increases due to Kanye West?

Also, if you don't think regulars won't be wearing Michigan apparel next season then you are crazy
