I can go stay a week at a beautiful beach in Mexico cheaper than Daytona or the equally as horrid PCB.

Try New Smyrna, much better than Daytona. If you're willing to drive a little further, Melbourne's nice too. On the Gulf side, Destin or Ft. Meyers.

Fair enough -- it was also motorcycle week when we went (coincidence) and I couldn't get over the fact that cars are allowed on the beach. There are too many nice beaches between Atlanta and Daytona that, for me, it's not worth it.

Of all times to make your judgement, I've been here for bike week and that is the worst possible time to go. And honestly, this wasn't my beach of choice. I tag along with a friend whose husband's family does their reunion here every year.

This was a chance for a an inexpensive trip to the beach this year, plus I can write the whole trip off since my friend is also a business associate and I have been working while here.

Yes, went for <$800 PP to the Grand Rivera Princess in Playa for 6 days all inclusive platinum with three of my friends. Airfare, rental car (cheap little Nissan March). All food, alcohol included. Flew cheap on Southwest down and back on a deal. Found a deal on the lodging for the second week of December. I spend more than what I spend down there when I go to Gatlinburg.
