New AD has been selected

I caution fans to be excited but not be overly sold on him being just a GT guy. Unfortunately, we needed a GT guy back in 2011 before DRad made the debt burden insurmountable. Stansberry for all intents and purposes is a "good guy" and a career AD. He knows the landscape and academic challenges of the Institute. What will be telling in his time here is can he drive revenue generating changes in ticket sales, fundraising and other elements of college sports while devising a plan to aggressively reduce the debt burden. He will have one hand tied behind his back given the debt load for facilities expansion. He was on record for taking the Oregon State job because they were willing to devote "hundreds of millions" to athletic facilities. That won't be the case here. I wish him much success but I hope he's up for the challenge and not just taking the job of his alma mater. His skill set to me doesn't seem to be the perfect fit although he checks a few boxes around unifying the fan base and understanding of the GT culture. He will likely come out of the gate smoking and use his GT familiarity to his advantage with donors. However, when we look back in 5 years, will the debt load still be at $230M and will our fundraising still be last in the ACC only ahead of NC State. Time will tell...

Dr. Adler and Dr. Allvine references in the press conference.

Pregame and YJA have sucked two games in. Hopefully, he can fix. Pregame needs to be wild and fun at YJA.

And what is it with the Reck Club getting more asshole-ish every year? Jesus, there are a blue million of them now and they shout at the top of their lungs "MOVE BACK! MOVE BACK!" as the Wreck drives through attempting to force a curb to curb opening during the player walk. Takes the fun out of it. The Wreck needs about 2 feet on either side coming through. That's it. Form a line, walk the car through, don't be a little asshole about it. The car used to come through just fine without a streetwide buffer.

Also, my daughter wanted to move up shake hands and take a few pics after the team went through (towards the band) and was told she couldn't come through by Reck Club members. One of the members then told her to tell her who she wanted to take a pic of and she would let her through long enough to take the pic. My daughter waited for the first few players then just elbowed past and stayed. Hey Reck club, get the hell out of the way, pricks.

Anyway, I had read earlier how the atmosphere pregame was going to be improved. It seems actually worse. Parking was supposed to be fixed with a good plan on gameday. It appears to be exactly the same as ever.

Get to work Todd.

I'll be 100% honest. I didn't even know Bobinski had left. I assumed he was simply hiding again because a loud noise scared him away.

"Per contract w/ Oregon State, AD Todd Stansbury is responsible for buyout of nearly $2.15 million for leaving to take job at Georgia Tech."

"In addition to facing buyout of nearly $2.15M, AD Todd Stansbury forfeits $50K+ in accrued deferred comp for leaving for Georgia Tech"

Holy crap....big buyout for an AD

I'm sure we can cover that buyout for him with the buyout we got from Bobinski. Oh wait, we suck at writing basic contracts. Did we even collect anything from the guy?

Christ. What are we up to, $25M in dead money buyouts over the past decade?

I'm cautiously optimistic. This could be a slam dunk. He played football for Bill Curry and got to see the GTAA operate under Homer Rice.

Will he be bringing any beavers with him?
