While tailgating, I got a call that another friend from Savannah - also in town for the game - had been found unresponsive in his hotel room. Paramedics could not revive him.

Ted Colby was a 1990 (or 91 maybe) grad, huge fan, and very involved in the Savannah area GT club. Leaves behind a wife and 2 young kids.

RIP TC4GT......

Met Ted at several GT functions over the years. He really was a great guy who loved GT.

RIP Ted.

That was certainly some terrible news.

RIP to the guy. Sounds like he was universally liked by our faithful. Well wishes to his family and kids. Graduated in '90 so he is about the same age as my dad. Couldn't imagine losing him this young.

Even though i'm not a graduate of any colleges, I would love to don the white and gold in my casket. Would be awesome

Are you sure he's your dad?

Ted was a good guy. RIP.

What crappy news. I saw Ted and one of his kids not too long ago at Ace Hardware and he stopped to talk about Tech. Nice guy. The Wilmington Island, Georgia facebook page announced his passing and has some guidance on things the family needs (food is not one of them right now).

Ted is a good friend of mine. Watched so many GT games with him...the best being the 2008 win over Georgia.

He was a wonderful father to his two children and a great husband. Loved golf, surfing, and GT football.

The last time I spoke with him he mentioned how GT typically only does well when we have a boatload of seniors and redshirt seniors...and that we only have two on offense right now. He was very happy to see Tech get back to bowl eligibility this year.

We lost a very knowledgeable and supportive fan. Loved talking GT football with Ted. I know I'm gonna miss the hell out of my friend.

A very wise man.
