How did we lose to Pitt?

Of all the teams we lost to, Pitt is one that I wouldn't be overly optimistic about beating in a rematch this year. Same as us, there's no way to know whether we'd smash them or get our teeth kicked in or lose on another Blewitt game-winner. They're not that terrible.

They had a 3rd and 10 from their own 30 down 7 with 4 minutes to go and threw a duck, had our S jump it, tip it, and miraculously end up in their TEs hands. That's how.

I suppose I'd trade that for the UGA win, but Pitt has not been better than us either of the last two seasons.

Whatever good was done by the ACC's dominance of the SEC and generally positive season/postseason was undone by Pittsburgh's failure today. The fate of the conference was riding on their shoulders and they.. bungled it. Hard to see how Dabo is going to get his players motivated for the playoff now.

The duck may have been because he thought that he was about to be sacked but then their right tackle put a combo head lock/bear hug on Keshun to prevent it.

Also a lucky ricochet FG off the pipe at the buzzer.

They also lost their OC before the bowl game. They were a pretty good team this season - I won't take that away from them.

Paul Johnson: We gotta check the tape.

We could have easily beat Miami and Pitt then we would be looking at a 2009 season.

I am just glad to put away all this talk about how we cannot compete with the modern ACC. Hell, the Coastal is more than decent this year.

I am just tired of all the bitching.

Obviously none of you actually watched the game. By the end Pitt was playing without their starting RB or QB, both went down early with injuries. Also, NW played to win all game long. They went for it on 4th down several times when conventional thinking would say they should not. They seemed to have more energy than Pitt for the whole game. Pitt also couldn't stop the run, which was probably the most troubling thing, but otherwise iiwii in regards to the loss. Not something to get your panties in a wad about. Pitt was solid this year when all of their pieces were healthy.

They didn't lose Conner and Peterman to injury in 1st half against us. And their TE caught the tough TD instead of dropping it

This should've been the last post in the thread. Although I'm also convinced the zebras took Northwestern on the money line.

And Pitt's QB was knocked out on a play that should have been helmet to helmet targeting. It was clearly a concussion caused by the QB's head snapping back on a helmet to helmet hit on a sack.

Pitt would have tied the game on the last drive with a semi-decent QB. Their backup was terrible and threw right at the defense.
