Virginia Tech departures

still decent chance at out-of-conference fail to start the season:
Sep. 2 West Virginia - FedEx Field, Landover, MD
Sep. 9 Delaware
Sep. 16 at East Carolina Pirates

Yeah, but that's VT. They could play Delaware, Mars Hill High School, and then a field full of thin air and still lose one OOC game.

doubtful, at best late rounds, not sure what he is thinking

Must be somebody else on the roster who fits the Fuente system better. Do we know who looks likely to start next year in his place?

Marcus Marshall?

Just kidding.

Evans’ decision leaves the Hokies low on quarterbacks and likely in the transfer market this offseason. Freshman Josh Jackson, who redshirted this fall, is currently the only scholarship quarterback on the roster who is expected to be here this spring. Walk-ons Jack Click and Chase Mummau are also on the roster. Hendon Hooker, a 2017 commitment, won't arrive until the summer.

Virginia Tech is still waiting to hear from junior cornerback Brandon Facyson, another early entrant possibility, about his plans for next season.

1-2 start is very possible. VT always seems to struggle against ECU for whatever reason.

Didn't the Hokies lose to James Madison or another upper echelon FCS team a few years ago? I don't think Delaware is quite at the level they have been historically.

Read somewhere ND's QB Zaire is supposedly heading to VT. No biggie 'cause he wasn't great. Jussayin

Interesting. Anyone know if the ACC no infra-conference transfer rule applies to ND or grad students?

Well, I guess not in either case.

Their bowl game announcers were creaming their pants over VT offense with Evans next year lol. Those are their three best offensive players by a large margin - mostly because their OL blows and their RBs are meh. I see Ford being very successful in the pros. Hodges will get drafted high but I always thought he didn't produce as much as he should've at VT. No clue on Evans, but doubt he gets high enough to warrant leaving early.

This is certainly a blow to them. If they don't land a big name transfer they could be in trouble.

Wow, that's gonna hurt a lot. Those 3 guys were VT's team this year. Maybe they'll bounce back, but it's hard to see them building on this year's success when their best play was getting 1 on 1 matchups for Ford and Hodges and throwing jump balls. When that wasn't possible, Evans could pick up some yards with his feet.
