Briefly changing subjects from our coaching search, has anyone heard about where we may be headed during bowl season?

Actually, it was, but the title sponsor this year is Roady's Truck Stops, and they changed the name back. So it's the Humanitarian Bowl again.

Thank God, too. The Peach Bowl people could learn something from this.

I'll say this that if it's true what I heard about yesterday's practice then I say we decline a bowl.

I've had 3 people tell me that the coaches nor the players give a crap and don't want to be there. If not then go home after finals but if you chose a bowl you damn sure better not disrespect Tech at that bowl this year.

Maybe a new hire can rally the troops and get them excited. It will be their first challenge.

That's basically what I heard as well. Get beat by a better team could happen but to just not give a hoot is too much.

Well, if we don't like our bowl destination we could always do something about it, like play better. Then we don't go and play on blue fields in Idaho at wintertime.

I really hope our attitude isn't like this. If so we face the chance of getting embarrassed again.

The coaches don't give a crap? That really sux.

I can't imagine the players not caring, especially the Seniors. The coaches on the other hand probably don't care and should be replaced.

You would at least hope the coaches wishing to be retained would care.

:thumbdn:

I doubt they don't care. Bowls do many good things for the program like bring money (most of the time) and getting more football practice/team building. Anyway there is no way a team would turn down a bowl. If they did they could kiss some future opportunities goodbye as they would likely be passed up for lower opponents in future bowls. No bowl wants to be embarrassed by offering to a team that says 'no thanks'.

and we are LED by a LAMEDUCK DEF coord who got turned down for Head coach and may be leaving, wow can it get any worse?

Historically, does a new HC have anything to do with bowl preparation? I know his systems can't be installed (or can they?).

Edit: Of course, if it's Muschamp, he'd likely be busy prepping Auburn for their bowl.

You would think Tenuta would want to make a good impression for any potential future employer. Of course, he may already have that lined up......

If this is true then DRad needs to fire all of the coaches immediately (including Tenuta). Hearing stuff like that really pisses me off. We need someone to go in and put some fire under our players asses.

I do not know "demjackets" source for the bad practice on Saturday by the coaches but that is not what I heard from players and managers that were there. These assistants coaches are pros. These heresay type of reports are not healthy for the players, and the coaches that are working on an interim basis.

The players deserve a bowl for there efforts and the coaches need the benefit of the dought for their service while at Tech!

Mover, I personally don't believe all these negative reports but I do see how the players could be discourged after all the coach that they evidently respected has been fired. It would seem an expected consequence.
