rambling wreck from Georgia Tech

Recorded this today with my brother and my girlfriend:

Had not seen this thread before. Also had not seen that Casey Henry video -- now I'm disappointed not to have posted the first banjo version. Though hers is VERY different, it's Irish rather than bluegrass.

Y'all are awesome.

Is that really you?

That's badass.

Thanks! I'm the banjo picker, my brother is playing guitar and my girlfriend is on bass. This was on a family vacation last week, at a rental house on Lake Hartwell that was full of UGAg crap. :puke:

I'd spent some time working up the banjo breaks, but otherwise this was really on the spur of the moment, we only played through it a few times first. And my brother and I only play together at family gatherings.

But I am in a 5-piece bluegrass-ish band in Atlanta, mostly no great pickers but we have good harmonies and a great fiddler, and I'd like to get a more professional video, in a better key (G vs. C). None of them are big CFB fans but I hopefully I can talk them into it. :)

We need to get you on stage at Yellow Jacket Alley

I like a lot of the newgrass around, especially Trampled By Turtles. Imo, you don't have to be the most technically proficient, just be entertaining. Good job.

SHAMELESS PLUG:

If you're in the Atlanta area and you dig TbT and other Newgrass, come check out False Hearted Lovers at Bluegrass Brunch at the Pullman in Kirkwood on August 13th, about noon to 3. :)

Here's some rehearsal recordings:

These are pretty representative though we vary a little more than this of course. I play banjo about 75% of the time and I switch to bass and sing lead maybe 25%, with the usual bass player swapping to dobro (the second song here is an example of that lineup).

There has to be a clever way of taunting UT fans with this before game time.

Thanks!

Nice job Trey. Funny, my wife played it for me Facebook this morning (I didn't watch the video to know it was you) . Someone posted it in memory of my grandmother who passed recently. He just knew that one of local Key West musicians always played ramblin wreck when she was in attendance

It's a small world! Especially among GT fans, unfortunately.

And how would you know, anyway? The last time I saw y'all, I didn't play music at all. I started doing this as a midlife crisis thing following my divorce 4 years ago, and I suppose it's the biggest reason I've been scarce around the GT boards and tailgates. Until now when I stumbled into a way to merge the two things. :)

Where are you tailgating these days? I need to come by.

Tailgating in the same area - student center deck - although they're not as robust as they used to be. Most of the key members have either moved out of state or moved on to another tailgate group.

I bought season tickets the other day and am looking at a parking pass there. :)
