Wow! That's a surprise! Schultz is jerk. Just look at the way he misquoted Gailey in order to make his article before the UGA game.

I hope his business card does not say journalist on it because he is just a writer.

There is only two down there - Bisher and Dick Williams.

Schultz' article looks like he spent the last week reading StingTalk posts. He basically hit the nail on the head. About the only thing he could have done better is figured out who 33jacket's deep throat is and come up with the embarrassing dirt on the GTAA search. Otherwise, he craps on Radakovich for not doing anything he said he was going to do, which is pretty much what has happened...regardless of who was at fault.
 
Nothing against Paul Johnson. But he is just Paul Johnson. He is with Navy and he was at Georgia Southern. That’s it. That’s the resume.

The irony of waiting on Johnson is that he really doesn’t even fit the prototype Radakovich laid out two weeks ago at his news conference. Johnson might be a terrific football coach. But the buzz would have to come later, after the winning. There’s no sense that the name or the personality of Paul Johnson is going to sell.

Well, I hate to piss everybody off but as far as I'm concerned, Shultz pretty much figured it out.

I can't disagree with a single thing he said.
 
But when Michigan gets hung out to dry I don't feel so bad.

But honestly, I'd withdraw the offer to PJ. You don't accept on the spot? - to hell with Georgia AND you.

I've been reading a lot on this board (too much to be productive) but this is my first post

Anyways, I understand DRad's remark about having this energetic, media-friendly coach, but I think people are putting way too much into this. Winning is the first, second, and third priority, and DRad clearly knows this. From what I've read, it seems that WM was pretty much the predetermined successor before we even fired Gailey.
He pretty much just summed up WM in his original press conferencce. But I don't think at this point this is what he's so concerned about.
 
You know, I haven't read or seen any clips on Paul Johnson that got me excited about having him as our head coach. Hell, he is just another grouchy old fart. Probably would make a damn good Marine DI and that's why he has done well at Navy.

Now, the real question is why? Why have we come down to this, waiting breathless for the guy to figure out if it's us Duke or SMU? Heres my take.

Granny Clough gave DRad a nickel to go to the candy store and get anything he wanted........

Because he is deciding between taking the safe money (SMU) or taking the high risk, high reward job (Tech). I can understand that. Which route do you think our previous coach would have chosen?

I think Johnson can win big here. I think he can even improve on our historical record against UGA. He is a great coach. But we need to know his choice soon, so we don't miss out on some other great coaches.

Maybe I'm the only one, but it seemed that Schultz's tone was somewhat puzzled as to why it had turned out this way, just like we are all scratching our heads by this point.

With respect to PJ, he's dissing him as much or more than us as he wonders why GT would not clearly be the more attractive option.

It seems clear to me now that this search has been nothing like it was envisioned by DRad. It is seeming more and more like he had his candidate clearly in mind, and could not get buy-in from the big money alums, the same ones who don't come to games, and don't cheer for their team.

If anyone is to blame for this, I'm guessing it is our meddling alumni base at this point.
 
Shultz is just synthesizing the handwaving freakoutery of Stingtalk et al to incite and enrage the public.

It's what "news" means in the modern age. Welcome to the worthlessness of commercial media.
