Bowl?

Right. There were people within a couple of blocks of me who had power within 2-3 days too but some other unlucky ones were without power for weeks. Irma was an entire FL peninsula event. Most of UCF's roster are from FL. Many of these folks were still w/o power by game time. Why play a game when there are more important things going on for the players, families, fans, and most importantly, support staff (police, fire dept, etc.)? Like I said, it was a logical decision, not a political one. You can try to say it was Hilary or Trump, dem or pub, or blue vs red thing, but you will just be promoting whatever loony side agenda you have.
Your logic suggested that since you were out of power, the game couldn't have been played. I was showing the fault of your logic.

ST: mistakenly citing 'logic' and 'talent' at every opportunity.

My logic was that since there were still large scale power outages around the state, I could understand someone else's logic to not play the game. I could also understand why they could've played the game too. It was a tough decision either way. I'm just saying it wasn't a politically driven decision which is what you said. Since this is the internet, I'm sure you will reply something about my mom and go F yourself, but I'm okay if my logic is faulty. It wont be the first or the last time I am wrong.

The UCF game was cancelled because Frost sent his players home instead of keeping them together, assuming, like a lot of people did, that Irma was going to be catastrophic. A late shift in direction and intensity made everybody look kinda dumb, but it happens. I don't fault UCF for not trying to host, but I fault them for not accepting our offer to come play up here. I think we would have beaten them at that point in the season. I don't think we would beat them now. IIWII. We had to win one road or neutral site game to be bowl eligible, as it turned out. UT, UVA, and Duke were all more than winnable and we went 0-3.

Wrong. The logic of your original post was since you had no power in Tampa the game should be cancelled.

One of these days, you really must share your preferred definition of "logic" with the board.
You first! Do I even have a preferred definition? No, it certainly isn’t a definition I object to, as no one on this board (myself included) has a definition of the word that explains our uses of it. I’m objecting to an attitude and the pseudo-intellectualism that cloaks it.

Ps. If you actually about my pet peeves, I can find an answer for you among my previous posts from a conversation between me and TIA months ago.

I challenge the assertion that I even existed months ago.

I was told Saturday night by someone high up in administration that if we were to get a bowl bid we would accept. That was before all the results were in, I believe.

I updated my initial post based on an article I read in the AJC today. According to the article, there will be no bowl. There are enough 6-win teams to fill all the available bowl slots, with Duke and Temple being the last two in, so no 5-win waiver. We ded.

Still waiting for a few teams to self impose post season bans.

There is still a chance!

Yeah they played a game three days after the hurricane at Raymond James Stadium. So did UF in Gainesville. It wasn't without risks so putting myself in the UCF event planners shoes, I understood their decision. Miami and FSU also cancelled games that weekend. Our game probably couldve been played but there were things out of the planners control that they decided to go the safe route. I hated the decision but I had empathy for their reasoning.

FSU postponed their game and will play this Saturday at noon to try for a 6th win.
