Kerryon Johnson not out for SECCG

Whew. Tough to beat the same team twice in one season. Even tougher without a star player.

EDIT: Be interesting if players get seriously injured in the 13th and 14th games of the season. Could 'player safety' limit the possibility of expanding the playoff to 8 teams? (I'm not even sure I want to see that anymore. The season feels really long. Especially when you suck.)

Teams that make the national championship game are playing 15 games right now. If/when the playoff expands to 8 teams, the simple (though not necessarily likely) solution would be to go back to 11 games. Get rid of the added non-conference game. It would be much less necessary with all conference champions in the playoff at that point.

Good idea.

Further, the extra games argument doesn't hold much merit when the lower divisions have been doing this for years. Surely, their educations/health arent less important than Div. 1.

He may play but if he's not 100% that will give UGA a big advantage. Auburn's D will keep them in it but I expect the game to be much closer and they will need Johnson hammering it between the tackles. War Damn Eagle this weekend!

So you expect schools to voluntarily forfeit all that 12th game revenue? Maybe someday we can reduce America’s entitlement programs too.

No, which is why I said it's the simple but not likely solution. Do you expect the playoff to avoid expansion because you don't want to see it?

I like this idea as well. Especially the fact of having an odd number of games per regular season. Big cry all you want but I don't like .500 teams making bowls. At least have a winning record.

I'm currently daydreaming of an 11 game schedule that allows non-cg bound teams to schedule 12th-game grudge matches on conference championship day. Imagine if Butch Jones wasnt fired and PJ challenged his manhood to play again via a YouTube video while wearing a Randy Savage style get-up.

Fits what I've been suggest for years: 8 x 12 team conferences. Round robin. 8 champions are your first round playoff teams. Add in your idea that everyone else plays a 12th game OOC.

You could expect the playoff money of an 8-team playoff to be more than it is now. How much more is near impossible for us to reasonably guess or then speculate whether it could come close to offsetting the revenue from an extra home game, but it could come into play.

8 team playoff would mean SEC champion, SEC runner-up, SEC West runner-up, ACC champion, Big Ten Champion, Big Ten runner-up, Big 12 champion, Pac-12 Champion. I don't know why any of you want that.

Not if you revamp the conferences. Unbalanced divisions and schedules are what needs to be addressed to make 8 team playoff viable.

I agree that would make things more fair and balanced. But I also don't see it happening. I think FBS football makes too much money for anyone to revamp the format. Plus you will get resistance from conferences like SEC, Big Ten who are happy with the status quo.

I don't understand why you think I would think what I want to see would have any effect on what the powers-that-be would do? I'm not particularly opposed to an eight-team playoff, BTW, if they get it right.
