I think there is a mass psychology bandwagoning going on. The CPJ haters are hating. The others are tired of defending, don't have enough wins to defend, and are worried about going less than 6 and 6 as panic sets in. Losing ugly to Pitt was pretty low. No one wants to be wrong. If you can't beat them join them, right?

Facts as been talked about too much

  • The school is what it is and is even harder to recruit even outside of PJ's offense since the introduction of APR.
  • The school is getting better, but is not committed to being a factory - if you expect a factory, be prepared to be disappointed
  • The past AD set back the program several years and part of what CPJ is dealing with due to the lack of support
  • The salaries are what they are and they are not pretty and not enticing (going to have to take a chance on someone)
  • Even factories struggle (see FSU)
  • Defenses have to be installed and need some time unless you have a team of 4 stars (I am guilty of hoping for the moon in the first year)
  • Look at all the teams that got a new HC - was that the silver bullet? Sometimes it helped and many times it did not (FSU, Nebraska, Virginia,... but GSU looks to be doing better)
CPJ
  • His offense seems to be hated/look down on/even despised at times by the media, refs, and many fans (although I like it, I know many people hate it)
  • He is both OC and HC. I think the program really needs a OC and a HC as doing both is too much for one person. I think this really needs to change.
  • Special teams have not been good and this is ongoing. I think this is a OC/HC thing.
  • The QB really makes this O go and if the QB is not going the program will not go. TQM is a good athlete and errors a lot on trying to keep the ball or not forcing the pitch. He can pitch, but I am learning he does not force the pitch like JT and or TW.
  • The defenses have not been good. I want to believe this to be a right DC thing but the jury is still out on the recent higher.
The bubble of having a special year appears to be popped. There is still a chance to go bowling and now is not the time to quit on the team or coach. Yes, I know some are tired of defending and are afraid maybe the haters are right. I feel the same way. Don't be afraid. Don't give in to the an unknown future.

I was yelling at the TV and CPJ to put TO in mainly do to the lack of TQM in following the system and forcing the pitches. (TQM I love you and you gave your all yesterday and it was not all your fault). I'll have to go back and see if I was wrong about the pitch hesitations, but I saw the hesitations against USF. I would error on the side of a system player in the scale of TW to Vad. Go for system over passing right now (although i wanted to see the reverse and it was stuffed.... don't pay me millions to coach) .

I am going to take the season as it comes NOW with the only hopes of making a bowl. CPJ is a good man and deserves to go out better. I wonder if a team gives up when the fans give up... I sure hope not.

If we change coaches be prepared for some tough years. GT's strength of schedule is very hard and if per chance we find someone who can do something good... they are going to bolt quicker than quick for more money. I can't wait to reply to every thread and try and ruin every board with I told you so like the CPJ haters. I plan to make that my mission in life.

I want CPJ to have one more year with JG at QB and go out on top.

Take that öööö to The Hive bruh

Agree with the post. The AD point needs double underlining. It'd be better to ride Johnson out when there are reasons to be optimistic.

We would need an exceptional coach to replace him because we aren't ever going to achieve great success in this era doing what all other schools do. Chan Gailey.

There are other variables besides coach it'd be easier to improve on. Stansbury is doing it

I'm glad we have enough smart fans that we don't fall into to program-wrecking coaching lynch mobs like the other schools (Tennessee, Texas, Florida State, Nebraska, etc.)

JG is honestly the best selling point for another CPJ year. If you want to exploit mass psychology you've got to understand the availability heuristic. You'll have decent political success saying something like JG > JT5. Exploit anchoring, too. Say JT5 < JG.

Let the hypnosis begin.

By the time we ride CPJ out, Tech would be playing in front 500 fans on Saturdays. He needs to do something different to change the course we're in this season. He's not gonna last two losing seasons in a row, 3 in the last 4, and most "smart" fans should understand that

CPJ's best shot to survive another losing season would be to play him and only him against bowling green, blow them out by 50 points, then bench him for the rest of the season.
If he did that, let's say JG plays a half and sets the field on fire. The next game that Marshall struggles the out cry for JG will be louder than it is for TO now. Bruh, drama L around.

This was a reasonable post. Taking each week as a season itself and hoping to have a few successes is the best thing to do. Maybe we get an FSU type of win a week or two. When the schedule came out we all should have been very focused on these past two games. Trips to USF and Pitt were both winnable, but difficult. Followed by Clemson, we needed these wins. A successful season is now unlikely. But, enjoy it a week at a time and when it’s all over our AD will decide on CPJ

A savvy politician would welcome that. He would say look, we are playing for the future now. This kid is the magical ingredient and we dont want him hurt trying to improvise like a freshman behind this OL. We want him for four full years without any health issues. We realize this year is going to be tough, and that's on us, but keep supporting the team through it and we will win big.

I don't think CPJ is the kind of guy who would say that sort of thing, though.

What have you seen in the psst two weeks that remotely looks like a reason to be optimistic?
