Opinion: We almost certainly open 2019 @CU or @UVA

We don't have a non-conference game scheduled for week 1. Then the following couple of weeks look like this:

Week 2: South Florida
Week 3: The Citadel

To me, this suggests that we will open 2019 with a road conference game. Out of our four potential road conference opponents, only Clemson and Virginia are open that week. My guess is that we open at Clemson in a showcase game for the new linear ACC Network. What a lovely way to start the season.

Well, at least they’d probably be breaking in an entirely new DL. And if we won we’d be Top 10 to start the season.

Depending on our team health coming out of fall camp, opening week at Clemson may not be a bad thing.

I think any posted games are still just penciled in. It looks like they are trying to set up an opening weekend TV game for us, and @Clemson would be a likely candidate, but they often change the non-P5 schedules before the official listings come out.

Just saying, but wouldn’t that give them extra time to practice against the offense? Who knows, it could be awesome and could be very terrible.

Dude, there's no time to think about 2019 right now. We must stay focused on 2018 to make the season all it can be!!!11!!

Still you have to admit the OP point is big if true

Do not want Clemson early. I'd rather play them in November after the option starts to click.
I agree about the option clicking later in the season but I also think all good teams click better late in the season. I'd rather them have all off season to prepare, over-think, and not be fully adjusted to game speed and atmosphere when we play them.

That South Florida game looks like fun. I'll probably be there for it.

Would be cool if we played @ UVA to start the year. Maybe I'd make a return trip home.

I think it is time that we start to benefit from having extra time to work against their O.

Clemson to start would be great. If we win, could be a miracle year. If not, better to take the L up front and move on.

The only other two teams (in addition to us, Clemson, & UVA) without an opponent the first week of the season are BC & Pitt who are conveniently playing each other as cross over opponents next year. Something will have to change as currently there are 5 teams with an open date the first week of the season.
