I like how you list UNC and USCe as examples in your first paragraph. Neither of which has won a conference title since I was born.
Yea but when Spurrier came to the program he took them from the bottom tier up the latter and won lots of games. His name opened up doors USC had not seen in a long while

I think the big name gimmic eventually runs its course. Ultimately, athletes want a chance to plan and win. They recognize bs like everyone else.

Keep the crazy takes coming. We don't need a name, we need a coach. We are not a total dumpster fire rebuild. What you are talking about is what desperate programs with nothing to lose do.

So, other than you being a tard, why don't you have faith in Stansbury to make the hire? Or, is this a case of you disappearing if he is successful or sticking around to be the asshole "I told you so" if not

Asshole
Seriously? I will support GT regardless of who is hired. I sat through Lewis and Gailey so if I were going to “disappear” it would have been a long time ago. I don’t have faith because he is looking for someone with “NFL experience” which has nothing to do with being a college coach and we already went this route before with Gailey. If that thought process makes me a bad fan or a ‘tard’ then so be it.

I keep hearing folks say "NFL experience". When did he say that?

Nah. We need:
  1. A tireless recruiter that can sell ice cubes to eskimos and brings in coaches that do the same
  2. A manager that doesnt beat himself in gameday coaching
  3. A visionary that knows when to differentiate our brand and when to blend in, and can pressure administrators accordingly
A big name is next to worthless.

He hasn't said this, at least not publicly. There was a report by Adam Schefter where he cites a source close to the search saying we're looking for NFL experience.

So an NFL reporter who doesn't cover GT made up a "source" who apparently got a comment from Stansbury claiming we were looking for a HC with NFL experience and everyone naively believes it? Got it.

I doubt he made up the source, but I also doubt that NFL experience is any sort of hard criteria for the job. Probably just TStan spreading misinformation so everyone is floored when we land Urban.

So you think this asshole somehow has a source close to our AD? Stansbury has said nothing near what his source claims.
