As a Tech alum, I love our traditions and our school. I love our rich history and I am proud to be a part of it.
With that said, we have a great opportunity now to change our coach. One that that players get excited to play for. One that can win recruiting in state. One that can embrace ATL and use it to our advantage.
If we want to win 10+ games per year, do we do it at the expense of having Atlanta based rappers at every home game and wearing a non-traditional uniform every week? Atlanta United has been a team for two years and has done a great job embracing the culture of Atlanta where rappers even go to soccer games ;) Obviously Migos and TI arent going to make us ACC champs by showing up to our games, but my point has been made.
So I don’t understand when i read names like Monken that we want as our next coach. The transition would be easier, yes, but recruits dont want the TO. He wasnt that favorable of a coach during his time at Tech so we dont want him now.
IMO if we want a cultural shift we need a Tony Elliot type of coach - one that comes from Clemson (who changed their culture ten years ago) and can bring that type of environment to Tech.
