Coach Collins on College Football Now with Roddy Jones

I’m less worried about his recruiting than the other aspects. Can he get them admitted? Can he keep them eligible? Can he keep them here? We have lost a bunch of athletes over the years to attrition.

Thanks for the summary. Sounds good so far. I’m still skeptical he’ll be able to recruit the way he’s talking but he certainly gives the warm fuzzies when he does talk about it. Brings a lot of enthusiasm which is a refreshing change.

CPJ has spread his disease among the GT fanbase that now has our fans thinking that we can't recruit decent players

I can't wait until Coach G finally washes the stench of TPR away from GT FB

Some of you guys got it bad, the IIWII-itis

I know cpj got a sport science minor, but I don't know of other academic impediments that were relieved. Rumor was that he got more leniency because the Apr was so high, but that's all I know of.

This is a legitimate concern. A lot of you have voiced the Hill as our primary reason we can't recruit and there's truth to it. I say let's still go after the big name players and if the Hill is the reason we can't keep em or cant get them enrolled we can confront the Hill about it. As I recall CPJ got an increase in number of exceptions due to his high graduation rates. We'll see how it plays out with the new coach.

Standford Cardinals are good year in and year out.WE CAN DO IT..
Stanford and ND have similar recruiting restrictions as us. We are not as attractive as those two schools, though, and probably wont win many recruiting battles head on with these schools. We will have to get their leftovers and there are just not enough academically oriented players to fill every cup with 4-stars who are good students. This is not defeatist attitude but just understanding the battlefield.

Both have basket weaving type majors to hide athletes. This is not making excuses but just understanding the battlefield.

No. They. Don't.

Really? Both are private schools who can tailor degree paths for athletes. When did we get that option?

I'm not saying that we shouldn't be able to recruit, but I hate when people make stupid comparisons like this.

Standford's most popular major for football players is: Science, technology and society

Here's the course listing for that degree.

Yep. Exactly like Tech.

Yes, Stanford and Tech have similar types of student athletes. The issue is would you rather have a Stanford degree or GT? I am fiercely proud of my GT degree but Stanford is definitely a stronger academic brand name and why I conjectured we would not win many head to head battles with Stanford for academically-inclined players.
