How late can schools have influence in the schedule making? First year that I can remember since CPJ got hired that UGAg didn't have a bye or a patsy the week before us. I'm wondering if it's because we aren't running 3O anymore. This is a pretty tough stretch, and should help us some:

Nov. 2 - Florida @ Jacksonville
Nov. 9 - Missouri
Nov. 16 - @ Auburn
Nov. 23 - Texas A&M
Nov. 30 - @ Tech

Followed by the SECCG, followed by a bowl game. Could be tough sledding for the mutts.

The SEC schedule was released on September 19. I'm pretty sure the SEC didn't consult CPJ and get his thoughts on retirement before they published their schedule. Mods, please ban the OP. KThxBye
Ah. Didn't realize that. I just saw it somewhere today and thought it had just recently been posted since OURS TAKES SO DAMN LONG TO GET POSTED. So the one damn year we likely face a beat up gagger team at home without them having the extra prep time for the 3O, we no longer run it. So much Tech.

Thats a pretty hard stretch, they could lose 1 or 2

I know they are still loaded with talent and many didn't particularly care for their OC that left, but you have to think that there has to be some sort of transition year. I just don't see how an offense can click and be so much on the same page in year 1 with new key pieces and new OC than one that would have been in year 4 of an OC that took you to the NC game last year and almost made playoffs this year.

Meh, that QB is pretty dang good and the rest of the O staff is intact. I think they do real well unfortunately. A&M being competitive with them is a joke.

Might not be the worst thing to get Clemson out of the way early. They graduate/draft a ton of defense. Might be able to surprise them before they know what we’ll look like. And worst case we get what was probably on a be a loss anyway out of the way why we’re still getting our footing with a new QB/offense/coaches.

Not sure anybody in the Coastal will be particularly worrisome next year. Maybe UVA? Rather get them later in the season. If we get our öööö together in the Spring I don’t see why we can’t win the division. We have a lot of pieces on defense returning.

In the recent past, it seems better to have Clemson early:

2018 - Almost let A&M come back and beat them week 2.
2017 - Lost to Syracuse mid-season and played Wake fairly close the week before.
2016 - Started at #2 and almost lost to unranked Auburn to start the season, then almost lost to Troy week 2.
2015 - Barely beat an 0-2 Louisville in game 3.
2014 - Blown out by UGA in game 1.

This. Dwags have a much tougher schedule this year but A&M will be trouble for them.
Auburn will not be a cakewalk either. All their juniors decided to return for their senior season (instead of declaring for the NFL like all the dwag juniors have). I don't know if Auburn's QB is coming back - don't know if he's a senior or not but otherwise they will be loaded.
