Duke, UVA, others need to swallow hard

Well, UVA is already a champ at swallowing hard, but what I'm getting at is something else.

It's about to get a lot harder for these schools (and other similar competition) to come into the state of GA and take top talent away from us. These schools have benefited greatly from successful recruiting forays into the ATL. This year, most of our top competition in the Coastal is pulling a higher ranked recruiting class (exception is Pitt). Large numbers are coming out of the state of GA.

Our recruiting is not going to supplant UGA, Alabama, Clemson, Auburn, Florida, and other big schools, excepting the occasional flash of lightning. Long term, what we need to do to be successful is to consistently get the best haul of the rest of the talent, and get back up above the UNC's, VT's, UVA's, and Duke's.

Gone are the days of outsmarting (or fooling) them with scheme and smart/solid players. Winning the ACC is going to require across the board talent levels that we haven't seen since the later Gailey/early Johnson years.

Some way, some how, we have got to do some winning next year so that we don't undermine the growing brand strength with product issues. A 4-win season could make it hard to sell the vision and keep the hype pumping. If there's a risk for us, I think that is it. Flip side is that a 7+ win season out the gate could really get a big snowball rolling downhill.

See these recruits UVA and Dook?
Gone.

That's a loser mentality right there. We just beat out Florida State and Auburn for Jamious Griffin
Yep and we even got a very late start on him with the new staff. Imagine what we will do with the 2020 class with a full year to recruit?!

First things first Omnipo-san.

Let's go after everybody, yes. Let's Instagram and twitter like we're 5-time repeat champs.

But first we're going to need to pass UVA. UNC. Miami. VT. Duke. If we can get there, all things are possible.

Still doesnt sound like enough juice. Needs more juice.

Jamious Griffin is fantastic. We need 7-8 at his level in EVERY class, no exceptions. That is what it will take.

Coach Collins and staff have a response to that. "Challenge accepted"

You are correct, Sir! We can, and apparently will, compete with all the bigger programs for certain players. We don't need 15 five-star players to make a difference. I think Clempsen has 13 or 14 3-star signees this year. Two, three, or four better players in each class moves the needle. We need to be selective, we need to be laser focused (we are) and try to sign for need and for roster management. But today confirms that the new staff "gets it" with respect to recruiting. If they can coach, I am optimistic that they can get the players they want.

Uh...yeah. I don't think we're gunning for Duke and UVA levels of recruiting lol.

We already had that.

If you could read, I guess you would not be GT flunkout.

We have to PASS those schools, beat them, be better than, rise above, GT>Duke, GT>UVA, good, yes, now you see. No?

Only then can GT >= fSU, can then GT>=Clemson, can then GT win ACC.

Yeah, why shoot for 1st place when you can shoot for 2nd, 3rd or 4th? We could be the "Just a bit better than the triangle - Champions" every year.

My point is that these are schools we are already competitive with. Despite our head-to-head efforts against Duke these are programs that are looking up to us and not the other way around. It's not exactly a challenge or a tall task to move the recruiting needle above those programs especially with the self-imposed limitations we self imposed limitations we had under the previous regime.
