There are NCAA minimums. Both UGA and Auburn accept kids with the minimum score. So if he can’t get into Georgia he wasn’t going to get into Auburn either.
The NCAA minimums are basically the concussion test:
  • How many fingers am I holding up?
  • What year is it?
  • Who is the president?
We also know that the ability to read is optional at uGA.

Florida might finish with a top 5 class. Mullen has always done very well with GT-type talent. Give him elite talent and he will be trouble for the Dwags.

Also, if you hear UGA flipped a 5-star WR from Auburn today, that is somewhat true. But come August, he’ll be enrolled in JUCO. But it makes them feel really good today.
I’m still trying to quantify GT-type talent, I don’t see UF or Miss St as places that require athletes to do any more than have football skills. Are we going to be recruiting the same folks and keeping them in school? That will be a first for a very long time.

Was comparing Miss. State talent to GT talent. I would put what Mullen has at MSU similar to what GT had during the same time period.

Academics have nothing to do with talent. He had less talent than ND and Stanford while at MSU.

Im sure a school able to recruit every available recruit vs a school being able to recruit a number of the available recruits can influence talent in a way. You already have less players to pull from before you even are able to decide if they are willing to go to your school.

uga has, in the past, accepted a player who read at a 3rd grade level.
Who is now a novelist.
Okay, I havent heard this story. So a guy really went from 3rd grade level reading to writing novels? Like, real novels with actual language structure, grammar and flow? If true, I have to give first-time respect to the NCAA minimums which I've always thought were so low why even bother?

Well, novelist for preschoolers. He wrote a children's book.

It’s actually a good story. Not one that GT fans will win making fun of.
It’s a feel good story that he improved himself. It’s a terrible story that they admitted him. It’s an even worse story for the public education system.

Not making fun of him. He leveraged his situation into an NFL career while making an effort to better himself.

UGA on the other hand publicly flaunted the fact that they admitted and KEPT ELIGIBLE a kid who couldn’t read.
