2021 Recruiting

I cannot say anything nice about your post. We are recruiting over 125 2020 kids right now. When the class is full, we will have max 25 to "continue to recruit" and absolutely our focus will go from almost all of the other 100+ 2020 kids to the 2021 kids. The recruiting absolutely slows down for those guys.

You will absolutely shift resources exactly as he has said.

Sure it is debatable if "the focus" shifts. As if there is only one focus. The focus on uncommitted players and scouting absolutely shifts from the 2020 class to the 2021 class once you are full for 2020.

You can't stop recruiting all the others though. Have to have backup's in case we get poached by other schools...

You back way off the majority though.
Yes both correct. we have already backed off quite a few solid 2020 guys. On OL and DL, you will see some guys not as highly regarded still being recruited just because the need is do great. But at QB, RB, WR and DBs, the only kids still being aggressively recruited are absolute studs.

Also notice CGCs emphasis on size and especially length. Even the guys not as highly recruited have the body size and shape to be sick once they add 30-40 pounds their first year or two in college. Obviously, I am a huge fan of CGC so I am biased but even the lesser recruited kids like Watkins in this class have significant upside. 6’4, long, fast, and a beast of a football player. If he is 6’5”, 250 in 16 months, Wow.

I'm 6'5, 245 lbs now, where's my offer??

Also, getting the class early will allow them to form friendships that should make it harder for other schools to try to entice them away.

I'm sure a lot of these guys are teammates or friends of guys we are looking at in 2021 as well, so there's that advantage too.

The staff is getting after kids who have length and ability to line up in a multitude of positions both on offense and defense. It's not unrealistic for these guys to gain 10 pounds or so a year. Considering the new transfer rules, most players redshirts. This is how they may look when they finally see the field in 2021.

Wiggles 6'3" 260-265. In 2 years 285 lbs
Stone 6'3" 245-250. In 2 years 270 lbs
Ward 6'4" 230-235. In 2 years 255 lbs
Watkins 6'4" 220-225. In 2 years 245 lbs
Behren 6'3" 215-220. In 2 years 240 lbs

Kelton Dawson was listed on Rivals at 235 lb and when I talked to him at Fan Day of his first year, he was already over 270 lb.

Correct. Some players grow a lot bigger and faster. Kelton gained the most mass out of anyone in the last year.

Tufele, Jordan-Swilling, and Carpenter all gained over 25 pounds in the last year.

Yeah, Watkins intrigued me because his offer list is not as high. So I did a little research and he was at some camp in ATL in jan (iirc) where we would have seen him in person against other elite players. And from watching his videos he seems to have really long arms. Seemed to be able to use them to keep his opponents from grabbing him. I would love to know what his wingspan is to know if I am seeing right.
