Joe Giglio: The order after the Orange and Outback has yet to be finalized. The ACC has used a “tier” system which will likely be tweaked. There’s a possibility the Camping World, Gator, Pinstripe, Belk and Holiday bowls will be grouped together in the ACC’s top tier. That would put the Military, Sun and Boston in the second tier.

The league would also have contingency spots in Tampa, Dallas and Birmingham, Ala. for years when it has more than nine bowl-eligible teams.

1. Orange (ESPN)
1a. Outback when Big Ten gets Orange slot. (ABC/ESPN) (2 times out of 6 years)

Top Tier (2-6)
2. Camping World vs B12 (ESPN)
3. Holiday vs P12 (FOX)
4. Gator vs SEC (ESPN)
5. Belk vs SEC/B10 (ESPN)
6. PinStripe vs B10 (ESPN)

Lower Tier (7-9)
7. Sun vs P12 (CBS)
8. Boston vs AAC (ESPN)
9. Military vs AAC (ESPN)

Conditional tie-ins
Gasparilla vs. SEC (ESPN)
Birmingham vs. SEC (ESPN)
First Responder vs G-5 (ESPN)

Glad I made it to Detroit before the ACC lost the tie-in for the Quick Lane Bowl, but I'm afraid I'll never get to experience Shreveport now.

Montana State is Great bowl vs AAF scout team (SECNetwork)
* If Georgia Tech does not win the ACC and the Orange Bowl/Outback Bowl berth, they immediately default to the bottom tier bowl played at 0900 on the fifth Tuesday in January in Bozeman, Montana

Wow, would suck if we won the ACC and didn't make the CFP or Orange Bowl and ended up in the Outback Bowl.

Selfishly, a Bozeman bowl would be sick. Doable drive for me with great opportunities for ice climbing and skiing.

Huh? You mean the ACC champ is not guaranteed to play in one of the Big 6 bowls? Is that right?

Joe Giglio: The conference’s deal with the Orange Bowl remains the same. When the Orange is not a part of the College Football Playoff, the ACC will have an automatic bid there. In the years the ACC champion is in the CFP, the second-highest rated team in the final CFP rankings is guaranteed a spot in the Orange. The opponent in the Orange will also determine another potential spot for the ACC. When the Big Ten is the opponent in Orange, the ACC will get a spot in the Outback Bowl in Tampa, Fla. Under the old deal, the ACC sent a team to the Citrus Bowl in Orlando when the Big Ten was the opponent in the Orange Bowl.

1. Orange (ESPN)

Why are they still allowing a bowl to be called the "Camping World Bowl" Why isn't the " Camping World Citrus Bowl" enough advertisement?

Cuz everyone just called it the Citrus Bowl and ignored the sponsor. Now everyone calls it the Camping World Bowl, which is obvs worth more. Though I join you in decrying this race to the bottom. Maybe we need a Political Bureau to restrain the market’s excesses.
