The new guidelines are not rules but essentially a set of directions for the NCAA staff that makes initial waiver decisions, which can then be appealed to the Committee on Legislative Relief. They are thought to be in response to a significant increase in the number of waiver requests being submitted to the NCAA this summer and growing frustration among some schools and fans about decisions that appear to be inconsistent in cases that seem to be similar.

Are you being serious or sarcastic, I'm not sure. The NCAA left a huge amount a subjectivity in this new rule "clarification", it is left to be seen how "equally" it is applied.

The current brand of indentured servitude is already oppressive. Let the players play and attend school where they choose. But I would agree--you get one transfer, then you have to live with it.
 
Really the question isn’t “can I transfer”, it’s “if I transfer, will I have to sit”. Rather than making it complicated and arbitrary in terms of vicinity to family, give everyone a single, no questions asked transfer with the rule that any more, for any reason, requires a year wait to play.

The problem with that is that they already can transfer the same way any other student can transfer. In fact it’s probably easier for them than the average student. Just their eligibility to play football for one season may be in doubt once they get there.
 
I'm more for allowing kids to transfer whenever the hell they want, for whatever reason, and no penalty. They're amateurs and not even paid (on paper). In the end, I really don't give a öööö if a kid wants to transfer because he's benched. What if you're at a factory and you have the talent to be a late round draft pick, but there are two 1st rounders at you position through out your college career? Let them move on.

Hell, I thought I was really smart until I went to Tech. It turns out, I'm not as smart as I think I is.
 
What's wrong with letting everyone sit a year in order to control the movement towards free agency? However, just don't dock them a year of eligibility in any case. That way you don't have to make an arbitrary judgement about who should or shouldn't get a waiver. In this way we don't penalize a student who has a legitimate reason to move close to home or family. The year of sitting out is barrier enough.

Copy a page from a Farm Bureau/NAPA-type calendar, write in caregivers name and hours to work on the work dates, tape to refrigerator door or side. Give copies to all caregivers. Done!

Some of you guys over-complicate things.

This is exactly right. The NCAA is on a very slippery legal slope here. I fully expect them to be hit with many, many lawsuits if they do not begin to allow immediate playing time for transfers.

This would be better than the current rule.

Or hire some student to make racist or sexists comments to you on your phone video. You would probably need to get a student that is about to graduate and delay showing it till after commencement, so that student does not get kicked out of school.
