Ref announced the ball would start on the SNAP. It started on the spot. Collins calls timeout and negates the game-winning touchdown.

If the refs hadn't blown that call, as awfully as we played, we would've won the game.

They should've at least put the clock back to 0:13 and given us our timeout.

I KNEW I heard on TV someone say the clock would start on the snap.

How else should he have handled it? Suddenly if we didn't score on that play, we lose the game. He couldn't know it was going to go for a TD.
I don’t follow. if we don’t score, he could then call the timeout. And kick a FG. I am missing something here?

Not necessarily with 6s left on the game clock. The play could take 6s. He also didn't know it'd be snapped at 6s. If it's snapped at 3s we were really doomed

Noticed the clock running and run down sideline official screaming the clocks running, the clocks running!

The mistake was not using the last timeout to negate the 10 sec runoff and stop the clock. Much better to be first down with 26 seconds and no timeouts with clock starting on snap.

Dont know why the confusion because the clock is supposed to start on ready for play if we allow the runoff.

Well they weren't going to correct their error with the clock because they didn't do it after timeout was called. So calling timeout was the right choice

Agree about specific play but the only time I have seen a ref truly screw up a game was Colorado vs mizzou 1990.
