That is interesting about Yates. I missed it the first time. I would assume it means he gets at least a few snap but maybe not.

I guess also that Johnson is hurt pretty bad.

It makes sense. Let him play now or at least go through the motions and see how he progresses. After he has played 4 games, then you can evaluate and see if he can help us this year or if it is best to red-shirt him. Bottom-line is we need more QB talent on the roster for next season. If playing Yates now helps that situation, then you do it. We can recruit more QBs in the future but for next year we seem to be limited.

I've noticed live and on TV that Yates is a very engaged player: both with coaches and other players. I really think he has all the intangibles to be a great QB. I'm not 100% sure about the arm strength or his size but I'm hopeful.

I was extremely surprised when he came back in against Citadel. He hit the ground HARD with that shoulder and was dead arming all the way to the locker room. We were in the 1st row of lower west that game and he walked right by us on the way in. Looked like he either had no feeling in it, or was in a good bit of pain the way he was holding it. Then a few minutes later he trots back out and looks fine. Don't know what they did in the locker room but apparently it worked to get him through the end of that game. Could be that later testing showed more damage than originally thought.

You's miscegenated. All you boys is miscegenated!
I never knew what Pappy O'Daniels was actually saying there. I knew what he meant but thought he was maybe misusing another word.

Everyone was calling to see Yates since the USF game. Redshirt argument is irrelevant because he gets four free games to play. On top of that I assume we'll be recruiting QB's that fit our vision before his redshirt year should matter. Based on what I've heard Collins'/Pnaude's track record at Temple they started the wrong QB early in the year until the "good" QB was solidified at starter so that trend might have followed them here.

Was never going to be easy to figure out who the "good" QB was going to be for us.

Exactly. The only way to find out was to give them all meaningful playing time. Now that we have, it looks like that is going to be Graham going forward. I really feel like we were planning on giving him the start and likely most of the snaps against Citadel until he got hurt. That could've really changed things moving forward.

This is what I've been thinking. Why consider a red shirt unless you think he fits into our new system? Different position maybe?
The whole sales pitch is we are going to recruit better players or at least players that better fit the system than we have now, so play what you got because in theory, they will be on the bench three years from now.

We may also consider preserving shirts for the players' sakes. In a transition, you know some guys wont stick and you shouldnt burn a year of their eligibility if you dont need to, considering some may transfer and have to sit.

Nothing. I meant that it was apprently directed at Crew4b.
Possibly. Possibly also other reasons like indifference that a lot of the seniors are hurt. This isn't anything new during coaching changes. Unless winning happens immediately the older players check out pretty early. Obviously NFL hopefuls are different, but we don't have too many of those right now.

The rest of the season's results and effort from upper classmen or lack thereof will let us know who's right and who's wrong on this point.

You're still not making any sense. The seniors that are hurt are all planning on returning next year because they haven't redshirted. I don't think anybody's getting hurt on purpose because they're "checking out." Lee broke his leg. Cooper and now we know apparently Camp have been playing hurt all year. Better to shut those guys down now and take care of those issues since they both have the opportunity to redshirt and come back next year. I don't think there's been any lack of effort from the upper classmen. You can't expect results to always be positive just because effort is there.

Yeah, it is very strange comment to make given everything going on.

The team has played very hard just about every minute of every game. Oliver was in for extra practice/treatment first thing Sunday (or Saturday) after returning from Temple. The is no basis for what claims.

Now, I think a lot of players might leave in the off season but that is likely because they see that playing time might dry up for them; it isn't because he lost the locker room.

Exactly where we are, and thought the same thing...looked rough when he went out. Hoping it is not much worse, but would not surprise me.

Yeah Cooper and Camp both had or are having surgery, right? These are legit. I'm sure there are some unhappy players (mainly non true freshman who are behind true freshmen or walk ons) but that doesn't equal "losing the locker room".
