I have no idea what their revenue model and salary structure is. Basically, Vince McMahon is a stubborn old man with money to burn.

This. League will be gone in a year or 2. Little interest in watching minor league football (that's not associated with a specific school).

Exactly. I don't understand it at all. For one, all the franchises start in markets that already have (or have had, in St. Louis' case) well-established NFL teams. I don't see the fan bases of those teams just automatically rooting and backing an inferior product. Why wouldn't they pick markets where the NFL doesn't already have a strong presence (like St. Louis, Portland, San Diego, Austin, Salt Lake City, etc.)?

Cause those are all small markets that won’t drive TV views.
