Skirting the rules and breaking the rules are two different things. Saban is smart and uses the rules to his benefit. The NCAA is the bad guy not the factories. I’m glad we have a coach who will also use the rules to his advantage.

I agree and disagree. In the college football game nobody is innocent, not even us. I’m sure some of the suits Alabama players have been caught in are equal to the work out clothes some of our guys got around 2009 in monetary value? I’m doubly sure that it wasn’t rampant enough Saban “the control freak” everyone makes him out to be was completely oblivious. Didn’t Bobby Bowden use the line that they are just boys and good boys? Please understand what you are saying... Alabama is innocent as they only skirt the rules and the NCAA is the only bad guy? Isn’t Alabama in some form part of the NCAA?

You can be 100% sure the the UGA graduate state lawmakers are going to make damn sure The University of Georgia is NEVER at a disadvantage when it comes to the #1 most important thing --- football. Win at all costs. Stupid is, as stupid does.

Could this actually help us? I’ve been doing a lot of pondering as far as the disparity between uga and our recruiting class and the question I keep asking is how would money make theirs any better or worse than now?

That being said couldn’t something like this help us actually be in the ball park on a few recruits? Who knows. Maybe this won’t have the effect I think it will.

The greatest tragedy of Georgia's eternal role as runner-up is that none of their fans will feel happy and fulfilled enough to kill themselves. But that's the only tragedy. The funniest part is also the most nauseating, they have had all the pieces, numerous times, and have fallen on their stupid faces. If they have one of those teams and get a new leg-up earlier than other factories, the Republic's days are numbered.

As for us, the real question is whether we should be angry. Paul Johnson could have won a handful of national titles if this had been done sooner. Instead, we're stuck with Geogh and his wacky bag of vaguely homophobic hype tricks.

If their is anything I’ve learned from history is Tech doesn’t quick fighting. We lie down, bleed awhile and spit blood in the dwags face as we step on them. Get beat 6 times in a row and it sucks but those student athletes keep ööööing biting and kicking.

we should be angry but never hopeless.

Should help us. Technology companies and Fortune 100 companies should be able to pay a whole lot more for Tech players in their ads than seed distributors, sod farmers, manure repackagers, and drywall companies can pay ugaggers.

Why couldn’t Stingtalk hire a couple of 5 stars to advertise it’s services if they sign with Tech.?

Going to be funny when companies refuse to pay off 19 year old football players (how many are likely to be on an average team?) instead of focusing on endorsers that will truly help their bottom line.

And the schools will not allow these players to use University property for ad purposes.

I don’t think the $5 that would bring in would be the endorsement deal that seals it for a 5 star recruit. :rotfl:

It’s not just about these companies helping their bottom line. We need to target rich alumni at the head of these businesses.

When rich alumni can buy wins it makes a difference. Tech has a problem in the fact that some alumni don’t care about football.

You meant to say:

most alumni are too cheap to pay for a championship team.

I am just an old-timer but, i dont believe college athletes should get paid
I’m in agreement with you as a non-old timer. My cousin a tech alumni and me have been cheating about it. He makes a great point about the NCAA and the schools conspiring to keep their “labor force” the players from being paid.

The schools themselves should not have to pay the kids any money after this bill. It’s all about the kids making money off of their likeness or for endorsements. I don’t like how it invites the unsavory elements.

Atlanta is going to be a NIL war zone soon. As far as branding and promoting the program goes I've never been happier to have Coach Collins at Tech. Land some biGTime croots, start rattling off 10+ win seasons on the regular, let the players get that sweet Coke/WaHo/Delta/CFA money when this passes in a few years. Speaking of which, we gotta draw/entice/bid/whatever more CFA Kickoff games. The Kickoff against Tenn was an amazing atmosphere and is right up there with the other top-attendance matchups. uG was smart and managed to pull Kickoff games through '24 when COFH isn't at BDS...we need to vie for those even year slots to try keeping the mutts out of Atlanta.

If this goes through, itll be interesting to see if they still get full-ride scholarships in addition to pay from the schools

The schools aren’t going to pay them anything. Except the scholarship that is.
