Surrender Punt

Well....one thing is very obvious. Any ideas we may have regarding any form of place kicking and generally positive results would be a scary proposition at best. That performance against Pitt was less than stellar, even with the Pitt return guy providing us with the gift step out of bounds
We got lucky for no late hit call on the tackle after that step

I don't think they blew the whistle and he was standing like he was "in play". Point is it would have been a weak call and really hard to call when the ref didn't blow it dead.

I don't agree. I think your point is fair but with that much time, you still have a slight chance with a punt. Also, do you really think our offense was going to score twice anyway.

Most teams that have a better defense than offense make the same decision in that scenario. We are all used to an offense first strategy and a coach that did take offensive risk. That isn't likely to be the norm anymore.

Also, I'm fine with the let the time run out at half. If they had been on their 30 instead of 50, then you make them punt. Around midfield, you are very unlikely to get good field position and might mess around and give them a cheap touchdown or FG with very little upside.

It does if you give up a sack fumble inside your own 20. And Graham was getting hit when he planted his foot on a five step drop, so a sack and a potential fumble was not incredibly unlikely.
If our play calling boils depends on the difference between the likelihood of fumbling on a TB draw and the likelihood of fumbling on a QB drop back, fire everyone now.

We did block a punt you know

FFS let the team play and try to win

Using that logic, you'd be firing some guy named Belichick too because they have done the same thing many times. And their line is INFINITELY better than ours. And some have even called their QB the greatest of all time.

Perhaps you should email him that he's doing it wrong.

I'm going to keep posting if you're going to keep posting

Why are so many so ticked off about this. Surrender punt? This is the Surrender Season. It doesn't even count.
