I sat in the upper east back then. The planes were so loud and then I thought they were going to hit the building across north avenue.

It was AWESOME!!!

Thats so ööööty. Wonder if they could get them back. That’s a million dollar decision and lost training.

At least one of them was (the one they show opening up his flight suit in the highlight video) - he lived across the hall from me when he was a freshman, and I ran into him at various road games (Clemson, UVA) over the next few years after I graduated and he was still in school.

They didn't get them back. There's a story in the AJC from 2010 about the lead pilot's struggle to get his wings after the incident.

While it’s a worn out cliche, I’ll state it anyway -

I can’t believe this was 10 years ago.

sitting in 222, lower-upper east, this was one of the coolest things I’ve seen. It’s a shame that, here 10 years later, I assume these guys never got their wings.
