Are they Tech fans or ticket brokers?
I suspect many are held by ticket brokers and corporate accounts. I say this because I know the first several years they were grossly overpriced and went unsold. When they finally sold they didn't go to the historical high money donors but rather people who were willing to pay the Tech Fund fee. The oldest and biggest donors tend to sit in 106, 50 yard line of lower west. We need to re-seat the whole stadium so everyone has a fair shake at the prime seats but it would be best to do this after a good season or two.

I'm afraid that in a couple of years, you will have a good chance of getting any seat in the stadium you want.

Not much of a difference when some of our "fans" openly brag about paying for their season tickets by selling the UGA game.

The chairbacks and lounge went in when they rebuilt the lower east stands for the start of the 2002 season.

RIP lower east concrete piss troughs

Seat backs ? Seat backs? Who gives a crap - really. This is like the Titanic is sinking so let’s re-arrange the deck chairs. Every other year I say no more will I attend in person and be so humiliated in that sea of red but there I was again with some lowlife barking mutts. I have tried to rationalize this with a commitment to the team regardless of outcome. However I truly believe today was the last time I attend a mutt home game in BDS. It is absolutely miserable. Why wife left right after half. I held out until 4th quarter. I know I am now part of the problem but so be it. I will always love GT and hate mutts. I just choose to keep my distance. A choice to avoid the suffocation of so many mutts in a place that I so desperately wish we could preserve as our place. Two of my long term tailgaters ( we are in our late 50s and early 60s) bailed last year. I said I would hang on. Well I only lasted one more year.

Any of our opponents fans willing to travel could have had the same look as UGA had today. Fans are fickle and there’s been a lot of apathy in our fan base for quite sometime now. Nothing’s going to change until the consistent results on the field begin to change. Become relevant in the national picture and people will start to show up. If our game today was a mirror of the Bama/Auburn game today, 5th vs 15th ranked teams, the stadium would have looked much different. However there’s been little to no hope for winning or even competing in this game recently and attending simply is no longer enjoyable.

What’s the history of those anyway? Why weren’t they put in the West stands? Anyone know?
iirc, when the stadium reinovation was done, the chair backs could not be done in the lower west due to OSHA compliance. GT would have had to redo the entire west stands to bring it up to code.

ADA not OSHA but otherwise you are correct

Seems like we should be able to get disabled people to sign a petition or something to give us an exception

No smart ass. I’d love for you to explain where the $ is going to come from for such an undertaking.
You think moving the TV booth is prohibitively expensive? Thats surprising.

Mainly, we just need the main cameras on the east, so we show the west stands. Bonus that they then face our team sideline more. I dont see any reason they cant be opposite of the booth.

And east stares straight into the sun for most games.

The West Stands don't meet current code. Modification to the West Stands in any meaningful way means they must meet code. Bobby Dodd Stadium is about 30-40 years overdue for a complete from the ground up redo. And since we're just about done fundraising for a new Edge Center don't look for a holistic fix to be coming in the next 10-20 years. It's a shame, because if the new President is willing to march forward with the athletic mission hand in hand with the academic one then the cards are perfectly stacked. New AD. New President. And a campus master plan that hasn't been updated since just after the Olympics were in Atlanta. Everything is lined up nicely for the GTAA to really deal with the long term issue of Bobby Dodd Stadium. But will they?

Yeah, but don't you think they can just put the big sunshade on the end of the cameras?

As for the skyline shots, it only takes one camera to get those shots. I'm not saying to only have cameras on the East. Im saying have the main game action cameras on the East side so the background is the full west stands not the empty chairbacks.
