This will be my first experience in Athens and I was wondering if anyone else was going? I don't know what to expect and was hoping to find some other Tech fans who are going and might want to get together for some tailgating. We have a room at the Comfort Inn and just an FYI the Comfort Inn and Suites on Atlanta/Broad St. still has some rooms available for $129.oo.

There has been a large Tech tailgate the last three trips at my old high school alma mater, Clarke Central, off Baxter Street in between Milledge and Rocksprings. Stop by!

My first time in Athens was the start of the season this year for GSU, and it was horrible. 90% of their fans were polite and non offensive. The other 10% made me promise never to go to that hell hole again, and GSU is not even a real rival.

Gonna be in St. Thomas that day. Hope to find it on TV, depending on what time the game is.

Anybody know what time the game is?

I went in 2004, but I'm going this year for the first time with my wife. We'll be there with my uncle, who's a cop, so even if we do have any problems I imagine they'll be short lived and humorous.

It won't be announced until 12 days before the game, at the earliest.

I'm going, just picked up a student ticket from the athletic association yesterday. Hoping I don't get attacked by their ridiculous fans :/ We'll see how it goes.

has there been a lottery yet for student tickets?

I'll be there. I've heard good things about the Clarke Central HS parking. It's $20 for cars, never fills up according the the booster club guy I talked to, and it's about 3/4 mile from Sanford Stadium. Also, the bathrooms in the school have been available, so no porta-potty. Tailgating passes on campus usually sell for $75-100 on eBay, so it sounds like a bargain. Also, the money goes to the HS boosters, instead of some UGAy fan. The school has been popular with the Tech tailgating fans, so the environment will be safer. This will be our first year to try it, so I hope this info is accurate.

I suggest setting up a tailgate on campus...right in the heart of Mutt country.

That is what I do every time it is in athens. This will be my 3rd time..

Any chance you could PM me with info on where this is, or just an address?

I went to Athens in 2002 and 2004.
The 2002 game I sat in the student section and received ice and liquor showers all game, not to mention we were down 34-0 at half. Miserable.
In 2004 I sat in Tech section, but pre and post gamed with Ugay fags. The mutts were actually very humble after the game. I think they felt sorry for me after Reggie's 4th down throw away. They also realized that they had 2 more years of Calvin Johnson ahead of them.

But to answer your question...I'm going, probably tailgate by the bookstore with Ugay aquaintances.

The weather in 2004 was absolutely miserable. I remember that it seemed that half of the UGA fans left the stadium at halftime because of it.

it was 40 degrees, windy, and sprinkling outside.

Probably the worse game I have ever sat through.

Maybe - that one was miserable but the Clemson monsoon in 2002 was also pretty awful. I do recall those as two of my worst Sundays ever.

I'll be in Rome....the Italian one. I'm sure I'll have some withdrawals until I get back to the DVR on that Monday (hopefully, I won't find out anything until I get back to watch it).

Something tells me we lost both games because you didn't show up in Clemson or Georgia garb.
