Anyone going to the UGa game?

Disclaimer: I know of one UGA fan that is exempt from the following

I went to my first UGA game in Athens 2 yrs ago. It was interesting to say the least... a few hecklings on the way into the game - nothing crazy. But walking to my car after it was over was horrible. I was surrounded by about 6 or 7 DAWG fans that had to be in their early 50's (maybe it was the absurd amounts of alcohol distorting their face, adding a decade or so). They followed me from the stadium, past the Coliseum, over the train tracks to my car - barking the entire way. Alone and surrounded, I found myself thinking, ‘On any other day, any other street in America, onlookers of my situation would think, “oh dear, that poor guy is being attacked by a mob of mentally handicapped people.”’ I was completely dumbfounded that these grown men were actually woofing, and drooling, and blurting out random words like “SICK-UM”, and "GET-R-DONE!!!" to a guy half their age, who hadn’t said a word after the scoreboard hit 0:00. That one event solidified my hatred for the Dawg nation, and the uncontested fact that they are the stupidest, most obnoxious fan base that this earth has ever seen.

I’ll be the first one to say that UGA has a good football program. It’s undeniable. But the hatred brewed isn’t because their team might beat you. It’s their @$$-hole fans. And that feeling isn't contained to North Ave. They are truly a cancer of NCAA football.

Never will I grace the inside of S&S stadium. That is, unless my wife holds my funeral there, in which case, I will be standing at the gate with St. Peter when she arrives, and it won't be pretty.

Just got my tickets from the GTAA, section 610 baby! Upper deck for the win! :D

And yes, I plan on tailgating and would love to meet up with some fellow StingTalkers. That high school sounds like a good idea...

AMEN. The only punch I ever saw my dad throw my whole life with him was following a Ugag game when I was 6. We were also followed from the stadium by a couple of "fans" who would not leave me alone - pushing me, bumping me, saying stuff; dad told them twice to leave me alone and, when they didn't, he laid one of them out. The other was so stewed he crammed his hand into a light pole when he attempted to retaliate.

I have not been back since.

Best experience for an away game, 1974 Mud Bowl.

Lets have that type of win again.

Take extra bail money in cash. And do not ever leave your wing man.

I had almost the exact same experience my first and only trip in 2006. Of course, being in the band, you're always a target for the fans. Even retards can pick out 300+ ppl in all white walking through campus. Never, for the rest of my life, will I forget the disappointment of losing that game, sitting in the stands well after the game was over, lining up to leave where the ugay fans had graciously formed a tunnel to "see us off", and then walking damn near to the edge of campus where the buses were parked. It was my freshman year, and to that point, I knew you were supposed to hate ugay, but it wasn't until then that I truly comprehended and felt a hatred towards them. I've had conversations with people who say that we make too much out of the rivalry, and I just don't believe that they have ever had an experience like that. I'm sure there are a few, but for the most part, I don't think they have really had one of those moments.

My one and only trip to the Cesspool was in 1990. Needless to say I didn't hear a whole lot of comments from the Gaggers, except guy one before the game talking about how weak our schedule was, and one after the game bragging about their recent BASEBALL championship.

We will be there as always. (4 of us)

Usually a very nasty crowd as others have said. It depends on where you park but it is usually a good idea to NOT leave any GT flags, magnets, etc on your vehicle during the game.

The simpletons will vandalize your vehicle.

They are among the most abusive, ignorant, and drunk fans I've ever seen.

That's happened to us. One year had every magnet taken off and cut up, laying by the car, and every flag broken off. (1998)
The next time we thought we learned our lesson, so we took off all the magnets, flags, etc... but you still have the window stickers, front plate and stuff on there, so they know its a Tech vehicle, we came back to 4 fully deflated tires. Nice. (2000)
Needless to say, they're obnoxious when they win, and real pissy and destructive when they lose.

So, the advice already given is good. Don't bring your family, have a wingman, and only go if you are open to the idea of throwing some bows and possibly having to bail yourself out of the Clarke County jail. Only drink enough to make you meaner in a fight, but don't drink more than will allow you to keep your head.

Would you recommend pepper spray, mace and/or a taser gun?

I'm actually going to the game with my girlfriend who graduated from UGA. I'm not too sure how the hoards will respond to that. I'm just hopin they don't make some "smart" comment about her being with a "nerd"... I'd kick their @$$ in clown shoes if I have to! haha

Good Luck with that. I did that once AT Georgia Tech and the UGA fans were such jerks that my UGA date said "Do our fans always act like jerks like this?" She was very disappointed.
