Clemson always has coaches, 5-6 of them, positioned at mid field watching us warm up. I assume they do it to other teams too. Not sure if they are learning anything or if it is just to distract the other team warming up and attempt to intimidate. They have done it since Venables has been DC.
I haven't seen other teams do it. Clemson seems to have a large football staff so they just station some watching our warm ups while their other coaches watch them warm up. It has seems like Clemson has a coach or training staff member for each player pregame.

It was a brilliant move by Day to not allow Clemson's defense to get into a rhythm. Breaking the huddle, getting set quickly and snapping it. Other times just getting set and drawing down the clock. Several times snapping it when Clemson started to shift defensive alignment keeping them off balance. Great plan by Day.

Is it really stealing if the opponent is literally holding up giant physical signs in full view of the opposing sideline? I thought all teams did this type of thing and that was the whole reason that every team uses funny pictures on their signs to form a code that they hope the opposing DC can't figure out.

I would totally buy that Clemson can do it a lot better than most teams due to their large staff (as JJacket points out), but this seems a lot different than what the Astros were doing to me.

I'm not a coach, and have very limited time playing football, but it can't really be that difficult to steal plays. I seem to remember we said in a post game victory one year, I think against Miami at home, that one of our players said the opposing QB was telegraphing plays pre-snap. I know that isn't exactly sign stealing, but I bet a combination of watching the signs and alignment, you can probably get 90% of the plays guessed correctly

Clemson could have called their plays out to our defense this year and still won by 5 TD's.

Notre Dame too. When we were struggling to get players on and off the field, I actually noticed that ND's QB held up in the 2nd half to let us sub because they wanted to run plays.

I seem to recall CPJ saying his Navy players were good at figuring out opposing teams’ signals.
