I don't see too much to get upset about after reading:

"We wish the best for everyone here. At least one of them will make us look foolish next season. Perhaps a team like Arizona, with a new coach, some awful turnover luck and a manageable schedule. Or Georgia Tech, with a potentially program-changing QB. Either program can actually make a big leap in 2021. But on the path toward a playoff, these guys are starting out way in the back of the pack."

I didn't read the article but we're obviously an easy target because of the offensive transition. People expect us to lose until we show otherwise.

These guys don't research all 130 teams, so they're basically going off "name" and last year's record.
Hell @gtphd they don’t even watch all teams. @GT to AZ is correct. They won’t expect us to win until we win. The shill they post is click-bate to teams at either end of the spectrum. Best to ignore it.

To be fair to Hale, he does say we are a team that could take a big step forward and make him look foolish. But don't expect any love from national writers until we are winning. I doubt a national writer could name any of our incoming transfers.

He has us on Tier 9 of 10. The team’s performance last year doesn’t justify that.

We won 3 games in consecutive seasons. We lost to another Tier 9 team, and got blown out by two different Tier 7 teams. Tier 9 seems pretty fair, based on results.

If we want to change that perception, we need to start winning games. We did at least get the caveat in the article that we could be better, but I think the grace period during the transition is largely over. No more benefit of the doubt or celebrating moral victories - it's time to win games to prove that our process works.

Funny to think how perception might be different if we hadn't öööö the bed vs Syracuse. I mean, we blew out Duke and beat UL and FSU. We'd look mid-pack in the ACC.

Not debating Tier 9. I'm debating relative value vs. Louisville.

Tech won’t get credit for a tough SOS either in national perception terms, even national CFB writers. Nobody thinks of Clemson and Georgia every year, Notre Dame last year and this year, UCF last year and them again and Ole Miss in ‘22 and so forth. People only judge you on total wins. Some of it is unavoidable, but I don’t really get why scheduling 2-3 potential non-conference losses is a good idea either.

Because playing those teams is fun.

Maybe if we get to the point where we're regularly going 10-2 and a crappy OOC schedule gives us a real shot at the playoffs I'd want to change things up, but until then I'd rather play real OOC teams than add one more (mostly) guaranteed win a season.
