One JUCO & 10 transfers...... and their highest all-time recruit was a three-star? Doubt they had many jumping ship to go to the NFL & will have a lot of 2020 holdovers.

The only thing going for San Marcos is it's closer to Austin than San Antonio. It's not exactly the first choice of Texas talent...... a lot like Jax State or any of the "state directional schools."

I thought they had gotten into trouble with the NCAA. Is it because of that?

Based on what's been discussed on the sun belt forum, Texas State has been relying very heavily on the transfer portal since Jake Spatival became HC 2 years ago. The biggest reason according to Spatival, is because he wants to make Texas State more competitive with the rest of the sun belt and spending time developing athletes takes too much time. Hit the portal, start winning, and then start recruiting and laying down the foundation. Every year it seems they're closer to turning a corner, but they've been like that forever.

The signing period opened yesterday, it ends July 30. They can still sign plenty of kids, and likely are saving room for an overcrowded transfer market given so many kids have an extra year of eligibility

They should have beaten Boston College last year, and the officials took it away from them. Think Tom Brady in the 4th quarter if you didn’t see the game.
As a Bucs fan, I really do enjoy the Brady 4th quarter calls. Helps a bunch.

San Marcos is an awesome town, and Texas State has good facilities for a program of their stature. Not sure why they can’t seem to figure it out.
