NIL starts today

The impact on recruiting and transfers is what I want to see. Are we really now in a new era where these decisions will be driven by the financial offers athletes receive? I recognize some would say that has already been the case in the revenue sports, now it will be out in the open instead of through bag men.

100% impact on recruiting.

Recruiting pitches will now include demonstrating the potential their schools open up to them or how much their alumni or businesses connected to their program provide to the team.

Her platform being an LSU gymnast was probably material in accumulating that many followers.

I was also wondering how quickly this was going to happen, and I guess the answer was "immediately". Women are about to earn more money than men in a lot of sports because Sports Illustrated Co-ed Athlete Edition.

Being in Atlanta can't hurt us in this. I've got to think the opportunities to capitalize will be optimized when you're adjacent to the GA Aquarium, concerts, and pro sports venues.

Quiet cow towns can only offer the $ from their loyal alumni base, not from an entire city.

SI is no longer interested in sports, I hear.

It was more of a general comment that a lot of lady athletes are about to monetize their bodies in a way the male athletes generally can't. The writing is on the wall and it's already started. One wonders how this will sit with the activists demanding equal pay.

The college softball teams are gonna get rich.

@GTCrew touched on an interesting idea earlier, worth following up. That LSU chick can afford to put herself through school now, but she only got there by first becoming an LSU gymnast. This is going to end with high-profile gymnastics schools no longer offering scholarships because just making the team gets you contacted by an agent, and you get so monetized you can afford your education with the money that follows. Schools are now motivated to recruit fans so the $$$ attracts the players organically.

I'm now on the fence whether this helps or hurts GT, but I'm 100% certain the best person at the helm to navigate it is William Geoffrey Collins.

I doubt "can't". Most male athletes are top 1% of the top 1% sexy on the male spectrum globally. Most female athletes are average on their own college campuses. If the men put their minds to this there'd be no contest.

Geoffrey needs to get Tech to pony up for proven coordinators so he can spend more time promoting. I see Geoffrey as a better promoter than coacher. He needs to follow the Dabo model.

Kings logo looks familiar….we need to sue

Tech is gonna get smashed in this world.

Love the heads buried in the sand by the NCAA as they said yesterday the schools cannot include any marketing deals in their recruiting pitches. Time to admit the party is over. The NCAA can no longer claim its athletes are amateurs by enforcing rules (albeit subjectively) that benefit the schools at the expense of the athletes. Things will change, we just don’t know exactly how. Hopefully, the example of the Olympics will be true in college sports. Many felt the end of amateurism would kill the Olympics. That did not happen. It actually lessened the advantage for the cheaters.
