Kicker - Andrew Ritter

Why have we not offered this kid?

He shows interest in GT yet we've got no need for a kicker?

Maybe I am missing something.

We just gave a scholarship to a kicker/punter the first week of November...Scott Blair. He has two years left after this one (actually three years to play two). He could have had scholarships to other schools but chose to walk-on at GT and compete for the scholarship. He can kick them up to 55 yards.

That is the best way to do it....way to high of a percentage of flop kickers...and we have been burned many many times in the past....Chris Leone (#1 kicker in NC), David Jordan (#1 kicker in Georgia), Kai Cornwell (1st team USA Today All-American), etc. just to name a few.

Guys like Durant Brooks, Travis Bell, Brad Chambers, etc. all walked on to earn positions.

Scott Blair had a very good year. The first couple of games were tough but after that he was fine. Most issues were around the snap/hold (timing of snap, solid hold, etc.). Punting, which we did very little of, was fine except for the UGA game. He would have actually been ranked among the top three in the ACC going into the UGA game, but he did not have enough punts to qualify.

Scott's kickoffs are darn near perfect....outstanding.

Scott Blair won the UGA game for us. If he does not make that field goal, we tie in regulation and have to go into overtime.

Maybe, but the tackle eligible-receiver who caught the screen pass should have just barreled his way for a first down / touchdown on that drive.

Man I was freakin out about that.

It was entertaining to see him try a cutback though lol.

He also had 9 tackles this year.

For a kicker, that is pretty damn good.

Ideally a kicker wouldn't make any tackles at all if special teams are doing what they are supposed to. He is atheletic enough to save our special teams if need be, which is very nice.

As I recall after watching the DVR, it appeared that CPJ had a few choice words with him about his attempt to mimic "The Diesel" :laugher:
