Mr. Cox meet sophmore Kelvin Sheppard from Stone Mountain (Stephenson High School), 6'2" 237 lbs linebacker. Think they were a little more physical than us??? Notice Nesbitt and Dwyer sitting on the ground with two defenders on them in the background. As much as the game burns me up and especially Miles, I admire their rough and tough style of playing.

We need to post this picture in the weight room as an example. In the future we will never get "smacked around", EVER!!!:mad::mad:
 
Looks like a 15 yard personal foul to me. It's easy to manhandle someone if you twist their neck by their facemask.
 
That should go in Giff Smith's office too, so we'll keep recruits in Atlanta.

After seeing the picture, that would be Mr. Sheppard.
 
I was thinking the same thing, it should have been illegal use of hands to the face, but guess what, no flag. You think Cox didn't walk back to the huddle thinking, d@man, these boys are tough as nails, what was that?" As a high school ref, we cannot see everything and most times unless its safety related or its right in front of you, I let them play.

Shoving your hands on someone's face doesn't make them tough as nails.

The picture was good, the basis behind it not so much.
 
Hell, by shoving his hands in Cox's face, he pushed him back and down!! Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the big, hard-nose fullback the one that should be putting LB's on their butt and clearning a hole for the running back???? Instead of clearning a hole, he had to look up at the LB from his back.

I believe that'll get you fined in the NFL. It is a technique that has worked before. Remember the Clemson game when the CU dt grabed A J Smith's facemask; twisted the helmet off; and threw it into the backfield? Smith received a concussion and missed the next game. That crap should get you tossed.
 
Looks like a pretty poor attempt at a block to me. Way too high, no base to drive from, obviously off balance. In hockey, know what they call guys who try to check standing straight up? Minor leaguers, if not hospital cases.

I never said that justified our loss. I was just asking. Of course one uncalled penalty like that wouldn't have changed our awful second quarter.
