What do you think Joe Anoai would have done to Jordan Jefferson late in the 4th quarter of the CFA bowl? I can only imagine what he may have done to the guy had he caught him. I think Brandon Cox' punishment would be light compared to what Joe would have done.

I looked for an hour one night for Anoais hit on Quinn a few years ago. That was awesome. He sideways jumped on his head.

Well, what do you expect? He's cousins with The Rock, Yokozuna, Rikishi, his dad was one of the Wild Samoans and his brother is Ro'Z. The kid had it in his blood, lol

I was hoping someone would drill J. Jefferson (even if it had to be a little late) just to let Miles know what they thought of the fake punt in the 4th. Maybe I'm just a poor sport, but I thought he earned it.

FWIW, I'd have sicked the DL on him, as you said, a bit late or not. Make a statement. Send a message to Leslie: "We're not taking that crap! You lose all sportsmanship, so do we."

I got to believe that decency is not completely lost in college football - even if two wrongs don't make a right.

As I have had a few days to recover now, I am going to call sour grapes on this. While I don't necessarily agree with the call for the fake punt, it's part of the game. It's our job to stop him. Calling for a cheap shot on their QB is pretty low. Would have been a totally classless move and would have made PJ look pretty weak.

I hope we see LSU and Miles again, and I hope PJ never takes his foot off the gas. But, I hope he does it in a clean way...

+1
I do not think CPJ calling for a late hit would have been his way, and am glad he did not do it.

I imagine we will play LSU again--probably CPJ is in DRad's office right now begging for it in 2011 or so.

And the same thing that happened at GSU when AP was tackled late out of bounds will happen again.

Agreed.

I decided whining about how bad we got beat is really bitchy so I wouldn't do it. The fake punt was painful to watch, but there's no reason to try and call bad sportsmanship. It just makes you look like a sore loser.

Running up the score is bad when you're playing some sisters of the poor school. If we kept our starters in against Jacksonville State, I would say that's a pretty classless move. There's no reason to rub it in to the team that had little to no chance to begin with. LSU, on the other hand, was playing a ranked school and a ranked school has no right to any special treatment from an unranked school.

But they better watch out if we play them again. I'm hoping for a dome game in 2010.

...like Cumberland?
"Heisman's running up the score against a totally outmanned opponent was supposedly motivated by revenge against Cumberland's baseball team running up the score against Tech 22-0 the previous year with a team primarily composed of semi-pro players, and against sportswriters who were too focused on numbers."

For the record, did any of you think Anoai's hits on AU's Cox or ND's Quinn were cheap? I certainly didn't.

I am not advocating intentionally hurting a player, rather more like F$U's former tendency of hitting the QB on every play, even if they got a flag occasionally. They did get a flag from time to time, maybe 1x/game. However, they got a half dozen licks on the QB every game just after the pass was released or the ball handed off. Borderline, not dirty, but effective.

That's basically what I was looking for. I didn't expect a classless cheap shot. Just enough to let Miles know he shouldn't call crap like that.
