If Josh doesn't improve on his read/hold/pull skills then I for one don't think the offense will improve. Jaybo was a much better TRUE option quarterback, and if you notice, he runs the ball a higher percentage than Josh accordingly. The QB is supposed to get the most carries, but Josh really decides to hand it off to JD pretty early.
Why is the QB supposed to have more carries? I've never seen that anywhere. He's supposed to get the ball to the right ball carrier. I've been wondering if there was any thruth to the "Josh wants to throw more to improve his future NFL skills" because honestly I haven't seen any improvement with his read skills. Besides the offensive line work, this is the single most important issue with the option.
It just seems like we've peaked for the most part on offense.
He's still a little slow and doesn't fake with the ball as much as guys who've been running it longer. Not saying he's not good, just that he still has room to improve. Plus the passing thing.Y'all are idiots. Josh runs the option great when the line blocks like it's supposed to.
We have 2 problems on offense. One - our line sucks. Two - Josh isn't an accurate passer.
One will get better with depth. The other might not matter if the first one gets better.
I'm not saying he's bad, just that he's got room to improve just like everyone else on the offense. PJ has said the same thing. He does still miss reads and he's still slower to the corner than Navy's QBs for example. When our OL isn't laying on the ground watching defensive linemen run past them, Nesbitt is outstanding.

If he can complete 60% of his passes.Sure. But if we can get average OL play, he'll be a Heisman candidate.

The team has the ability to improve greatly on the o-line. The coaches are glad that we will have actual competition at the o-line positions--instead of having to plays some guys because that it all we had. The o-line had its moments, but played poorly for a big chunk of the season--as they get more reps and familiarity w/a foreign blocking scheme, why wouldn't they improve?
Their is some good history to think that Nesbitt will improve in the passing game--he threw for a ton of yards in HS. I believe that his accuracy will improve as he actually has time to throw instead of the o-line getting shoved back towards him, as was the case numerous times this season.
Cutting down on TO's will do wonders as well. Even w/the o-line problems (which is a big reason why the passing game was hit or miss), we beat VT and UVA if we don't have the back breaking TO's.
Also, our special teams were craptacular. They will improve w/the added depth from this recruiting class and from another kicker, so that one player isn't doing all three kicking jobs.
So, yeah, IMO, there is a lot of room for improvement. I'm thrilled w/CPJ's 1st season--the good news is that he very likely isn't. He hates to lose. Besides improving on technique (as you put it) and other aspects which can lead to big results from a bit of improvement, CPJ has instilled a winning attitude w/the program. This is the biggest difference w/the new regime.
Tevin is likely to be moved to AB or WR. Bryce Dykes will not see the field at all.
Jordan Luallen will have his hands full battling David Sims and Dontae Aycock for the #3 spot.
btw...Jordan ran very little TO...they were primarily wing-T...but at least he was under center and not in shotgun.
Dontae Aycock ran more true option and was also under center. Phenomenal runner. He can take it to the house on any play.
David Sims was more West Virginia/Florida style out of the shotgun but did throw for 2500, ran for 1500, and accounted for 63 TD's in just his senior season.
